Ah, I get it now. đź’ˇ I thought that was what the bypass valve (BPV) was for. I'll get it one of these days. :dopey:

A BPV actually regulates boost pressure. It's also known as a Wastegate.

:odd:

A BOV vents pressure from the piping post-turbo so the turbo isn't blowing air against a closed throttle. A wastegate vents exhaust gases before the turbo to slow it down thus controlling boost. What exactly is a BPV then? Just different names..?

Many aftermarket Blow off valves have and adjustment screw that you can adjust in too make it tighter so you will get the flutter. The high boost flutter isnt a good thing by the way, you want to get the pressure ot of the intake as quick as possible as not to slow down the compressor wheel, over time it can be damaging. My Skyline does flutter at low boost low throttle inputs but thats not a problem.

One of my friends with a Nissan Pulsar GTiR (Sunny) removed his BOV and plugged it up purely to make the large flutter noise come out of the intake, very silly thing to do and I dont recommend it.

Does it sound like PSHHHH-PSHHHH-PSHHHHH-Pshhhhhh-Pshhhhhhh-pshhhhh-pshhh? (^_^)

Sounds like an HKS Super Sequential BOV. I always liked the sound. Sounds pretty scary when you've got one 15ft behind you trying to keep up with your car on a twisty road.

The HKS SSV must have been adjusted tight as my friends 180sx has one and it doesnt do that, it makes one loud high pitched whistle type blow off (Bad for the ears when close).

How about you tell him to put his own damn BOV on there? How much extra is he considering paying? Most BOVs cost around $300, so it really worth your time?

Also, check this out.

Crap.

All that without any "*". :)

OK guys thats enough help I think. Some you gave decent help others still should learn to read the first post. I dont care about the sound it makes, the purchaser of my vehicle does, I am purely just doing his dirty work and finding answers to his questions. For the people who have a problem with ricers... Im sorry you also read the first post wrong, it not me who Im buying it for. The guy who is buying the vehicle and myself fully understand (the extent we need to) the technical side of a BOV, that is why the guy wishes to purchase it, his only concern (which wasnt a too bigger deal to him) was the sound it will produce.

Oh and on another note - C'mon guys, get over ricers right, Im sick of hearing about them in the GT4 forum, its just unnessecary nagging which annoys the hell out of alot of people. God, if someone is into screwing round with non-technical tuning on a vehicle.. let them be. They have just as much right at the fat-head tuners who are into serious performance tuning. They have just as much right to exist as the non-ricers, just different interests. I cant say im either really, all I care for vehicles is that they act as a form of transport and the occasional 4wd drifting... which is no good for the car I know!

Thanks for the genuine answers though!
