Hi all, was just wondering if anybody could help me out with some advice.

I need new front disc brakes for my bike but wanted to know if I should buy standard replacements or upgrade them? And if I upgrade can I get better brakes without having to pay alot more? Is it best to buy online or from dealers?

The bike is a 2004 (K4) GSX-R 600 and I live in the UK.
Thanks in advance for any help.

This should be in the motorcycle section.

But, you don't need upgraded brakes on an 04 GSX-R 600.
Those things stop on a dime.

The GSX-R 600 is probably .5 seconds slower than the Works bike around a track (with the same pro on it). It is also probably one of the closest machines to its track counterpart that one could by for everyday road use.

Upgrading the brakes on that would be like putting a bigger set of turbos on the Veyron! Just unnecessary.

I think just replacing them would do the job.

Thanks for the replies, I know that the brakes themselves are plenty good enough for track and road use but are there benifits aside from braking itself from wavey/petal discs in terms of wear and tear? Or is it just cosmetic?

Thanks for the links Lissa, in the first link - discs on offer at £408 :embarrassed:

All looks, look at MotoGP brakes, round as a pancake.
The only usefulness that they serve would be for motocross riding, where the waves would help remove mud from the caliper.
