Brake Pedal as Reverse ?

Is there anyway to map the brake pedal as the reverse aswell ?

Using a wheel, the Triangle button is not best placed when i am trying to turn away from a crash barrier, in fact it is very awkward indeed !

is there a way round this ?

I am astounded it is not the Brake pedal to be honest like F1 !!

Thx

Paul

AFAIK this is not possible, though I really wish it was. I am having the same issue with my DFGT... When you crash the wheel spins violently and it's indeed really awkward to get to the triangle button. :(

I'm pretty sure that is not possible.
On my DFGT I use the gear stick to reverse, because as you pointed out, the triangle button is pointless if you are steering.

I am very glad the brake doesn't reverse. If you have a wheel with a H pattern gearbox you can select reverse and use the throttle like in a real car.

1. You can map the controller to whatever configuration you wish, but you can't set multiple commands to the same button.

2. Does the brake pedal make your real car go in reverse?

3. Here's something good to read before your next thread: it's the AUP. I've noticed that one of the biggest pet-peeves that the moderators have is:

•You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

4. Welcome to GTP! :gtpflag:

EDIT: I didn't read close enough the first time, my first point isn't very helpful because you're using a wheel and they're all different, so I can't really say what the best way to map your buttons would be. Sorry!

THANKS

And thank you to the rest aswell :)

I will try the Gear Stick idea, maybe worth a go but i find that awkward aswell, so don't use it

Thx, whoops, Thanks again all

I don't suppose anything has changed regarding this thread over the last few patches ?

I have not played for a while, but started getting back into it the last few days, but this one thing still bugs me no end !!

Cheers

Im goin to be a smartass and tell you not to crash so much. On my G27 the triangle isn't that bad to get to, was kind of awkward at first, but don't use it enough to want it anywhere else. Was gonna put it on the wheel, but I use those for in race setting changes and look back. Im guessing the dfgt has all the buttons on the actual wheel though. Sounds like the stick shift is the best option.

Here would be my suggestions

1) Alter how you "reverse." When I reverse, I use it just long enough to get a head of steam going - 15mph absolute tops, often less. From there, I can lay off the button and start steering properly to get my car pointed in the right direction. From there, I put it back into gear and drive off.

2) If you have a preference between a stick-shift (sequential or H-Gate) or the shifter paddles, you could reassign one of them to reverse. I don't recall what game it was, but I know in one of them, I had the downshift paddle assigned to reverse for high-speed backwards driving.

I second the gear shift on the DFGT. I use - for Reverse and + for the handbrake.

I use the gearshift for reverse instead of goin in to a lower gear and handbreak instead of going in a higher gear when i drive fast cars. I am then using the buttons on the back of the wheel for changing gears. If i drive a slower car it is fun to shift with the stick so I change the settings. And with a slower car I don't need the reverse so often because it's easier to stay on the road. BUT if I am in a onlinerace in the open lobby with no rules I always use the ds3 because of this issue.

Wait... you have a wheel , but you cripple yourself online because it is easier to reverse with the DS3?!

Reverse is a pain on my wheel too(why oh why can't we just shift into reverse) -- but I would never even consider making the racing more difficult or less fun in order to make recovering from a crash easier.

If you crash you lose, no matter how usable reverse or first is. I prefer to plan on not crashing. I know in pubbies you often have help, but still...

In races with no rules. Dirty racing. It's hard not to crash then:) But I am a wheelrookie so I use the ds3 in drifting and online timetrials if there is rain like the last one.

Ahh, that makes more sense then. And I hadn't even considered dirty racing. I'd get crushed, I get so confused trying to find that button when my wheel is upside down.

I use square for reverse on my dfgt. I use the gear stick for manual shifting and the paddles for shifting as well, so that left the face buttons for reverse. I found that I could reach the square button easier than the others when needing to get into reverse quickly.
