Ok guys. I just started having the dreaded brake pedal issues with the standard Fanatec pedals.

Now.... I'm really hoping that the problem is within the pedals and not the circuitry in the wheel. I started having problems last night. I would get random braking going down the straight without touching the brake. It was just enough to keep making the car hesitate. Then when I turned on the telemetry to see what was going on it looked very fluttery when I would press the brake. Then from a standstill I pressed the clutch and would get the same fluttery brake just not as much as when I actually pressed the brake. I tried unplugging the pedals and plugging them back in but that didn't work. Then I pressed the brake all the way down like 3 or 4 times and it went away and worked fine the rest of the night.

Then this morning I started having problems again. Slightly different this time. Once again the car started braking without me touching the brakes. So... Once again I turn on the telemetry to see whats going on and now when I press the brake all the way down it is only going just past halfway in the telemetry (with no fluttery effects like before). I turn off the wheel and turn it back on and it went away again and worked fine for the next 15 minutes until I had to shut off the console and leave for work.

Please tell me this is the pedals and not the wheel.

If you open up the pedal base you will see the potentiometer for the brake pedal. Sounds like yours is loose. You will need a torx ( star type ) bit to get the pedals opened. Be careful and go slow. Those babys are spring loaded and can be quite tricky to reassemble.

Sorry I cannot be a little more.specific. Im at work at the moment.

I wish I knew what a potentiometer looked like. How will I know what position it should be in? Will it just be obvious?

Either way i'm going to wait until I have issues that can't be rectified by the methods I previously used. (off/on or repeatedly fully pressing the brake)

Picture an old volume knob on a radio. Pull the knob of and the part that is actually adjusting the volume is a potentiometer. If i remember right, you will have to glue it down with some superglue or similar.

I'll keep that in mind in case I have no other option at some point. Just hope I can tell what position it's supposed to be in before I glue it.

Thanks. 👍

Edit pic in above post of a basic pot.
I thought there was a guide floating around but couldnt find it in a quick search.

Thanks for the picture. Any idea of who will I know what position it's supposed to be in?

Not sure at the moment. Ill try to find a guide when i get to a computer. I know its out there.

I cannot stress enough, BE CAREFUL, all the spring tension is held by the two halves of the pedal housing when its bolted together. It will pop on you if you do not open it slowly while holding it shut ( does tha even make sense) or you willbe left with a pile of pedal parts and a new set on order :)
good luck, glad I could help.

Yeah like I said. I'm not doing it until it's a last resort. I tried them for a sec when I went to lunch earlier and worked without a problem. That was the first time in the last 2 days that they worked fine on startup.

BTW I did notice that the guy in that thread still ended up having problems again (about a week and a half later) after the supposed fix.

Thanks for all of your help. You have provided me with some really solid info.

I think the second problem was with his replacement set .
Not that that is any better.

No, i'm pretty sure he was referring to the set he fixed here.

Way to joykill when I read that.
As I thought that the pedals would be fixable but oh well. :guilty:
Got a Logitech G27 pedal shipping to my place by tomorrow though.

No, you just overlooked it. 👍

I was looking on eBay to see if there were any cheap sets of Logitech G-series pedals (since I already have the adapter) but no luck. Any idea where to get some?

eBay, its your only luck sadly.
If only I knew you needed some, there were four G27 and one G25 pedals up for sale last week and that is pretty surprising to see. Considering since it is hard to find these pedals separately.

I am in need of that adapter as well. :grumpy:

Damn. Wish my pedals acted up last week, :ouch:

Well... My fluttery pedal is gone but now i'm having the no max pedal on the brake. It goes up maybe 3/4 of the way and that's it. Unplugging the pedals and plugging them back in works perfect every time though.

Does everyone still think it's just the pedals?

It is the exact same for my pedals as well :grumpy:
It'll work perfect for a couple of minutes then the brakes suddenly loses its sensor for the game only reading 3/4ths of it.

Mine is like that at start up. Then once i unplug and re-plug the pedals it goes away and is fine for the rest of the time i'm playing until i power off the wheel again.
