Ok guys. I just started having the dreaded brake pedal issues with the standard Fanatec pedals.

Now.... I'm really hoping that the problem is within the pedals and not the circuitry in the wheel. I started having problems last night. I would get random braking going down the straight without touching the brake. It was just enough to keep making the car hesitate. Then when I turned on the telemetry to see what was going on it looked very fluttery when I would press the brake. Then from a standstill I pressed the clutch and would get the same fluttery brake just not as much as when I actually pressed the brake. I tried unplugging the pedals and plugging them back in but that didn't work. Then I pressed the brake all the way down like 3 or 4 times and it went away and worked fine the rest of the night.

Then this morning I started having problems again. Slightly different this time. Once again the car started braking without me touching the brakes. So... Once again I turn on the telemetry to see whats going on and now when I press the brake all the way down it is only going just past halfway in the telemetry (with no fluttery effects like before). I turn off the wheel and turn it back on and it went away again and worked fine for the next 15 minutes until I had to shut off the console and leave for work.

Please tell me this is the pedals and not the wheel.

I'm not sure what the problem may be, but I've been experiencing the same fluttering issue as well and I figured out why. By the way, I'm using a CSR with G25 pedals, so a bit of a different setup but similar problem nevertheless. I noticed when I start playing the game, the brakes seemed way too sensitive. I turned on the telemetry and noticed the same fluttering you mentioned, Chris. After some trial and error, I figured out exactly what the game was doing. The game thought that during the first time I applied the brakes a little, I was pressing the pedal down all the way. So just 10% of the pedal, for example, and my tires would be locking up in game. So I pressed the pedal in all the way several times, problem solved. Similar to how you need to calibrate the brake pedal in GT5. So hopefully this is all you need to do, and it seems like it worked for you when you first 'calibrated' the pedal last night. The fluttering appears to be the game adjusting where it thinks the maximum braking from the pedal is as you press it down more, in realtime, until you press it down all the way at least once, maybe a few times for good measure. I hope this info helps.

Thanks and that did solve my problem last night but still doesn't explain this morning's problem.

Looks like it may be time for an upgrade. Only problem is right now i'm starving for extra cash but some might be on the way hopefully. (if I find out who dented my car, which is being investigated as we speak)

I had the same issue, only the pedals would not fully brake as well. The only thing that would help is to unplug the pedals from the wheel, and plug them back in. It seemed to solve the issue until I had to turn off the wheel again (to use the controller for tuning, painting etc...), then the issue would arise again.

Its a pain, so I ended up getting the CSR Slite pedals. No issues, and am happy with them.

Just had another go and once again I got the fluttering on startup. Seems to happen every time I start up the wheel now. Like you said though just pump the brakes several times (can't be too gentle doing it either, got to give it just a good pumping almost as if your bleeding the brakes in a real car) then it goes away completely and doesn't come back until I power off the wheel and turn it back on.

How long have you been using the pedals like that? I can live with pumping the brakes on every start up as long as it keeps working after.

Im surprised the same exact thing is happening with G-Series pedals. I would hate to put up the cash for some clubsports and have the same thing happen.

I haven't had the half pedal problem again. So far that was a one time thing. A portion of my tax refund maybe going to a new set of pedals. Just hope these hold on that long.

I've had this setup for a little over a week now, and it has always been this way for me. A good bet is that it could be the G-series pedals, because calibrating the brake pedal is necessary on GT5 as well. Since you are experiencing the same thing with your pedals though, maybe it's the wheel or just a software bug that plagues both games? Either way, it doesn't bother me now that I know to pump the brakes every start up. Although on my setup, I have to pump each of the 3 pedals at start up, not just the brake pedal. Of course, it's not as significant as the brake pedal, especially while playing with no ABS lol.

Well... My fluttery pedal is gone but now i'm having the no max pedal on the brake. It goes up maybe 3/4 of the way and that's it. Unplugging the pedals and plugging them back in works perfect every time though.

Does everyone still think it's just the pedals?

I had the same problem as well, but with the accelerator instead of the brake. I couldn't keep up with any other car on the track and I couldn't figure out why, until I pulled up the telemetry and noticed full throttle was stuck at around 80% or so. Turned the wheel off and back on, calibrated the pedals, and everything was fine. Happens every so often. So now, first thing I do everytime I start up the game, I pull up the telemetry and calibrate the pedals and make sure they all reach the limit before I actually race.

If you can't get it fixed -

There are a couple of listings on Ebay for pedals you could use. Someone is actually selling a standard set of Fanatec's. Also, check your craigslist. Even in Oklahoma, I've seen some g25/g27, even a playseat, and other sim stuff for sale.

I saw those Fanatec's. $60 with shipping is a bit steep for junk pedals that will most likely act just like mine in a month or so. Iv'e been looking to see if any G-Series pedals pop up but haven't seen anything since the issue started.

It's not a huge factor since they do work once i unplug and re-plug them but I'm definitely going to be getting some new pedals once tax return time comes around in a couple more months. Hopefully these will hold out until then.

I'm just a little worried i'm going to get new better pedals and have the same issue and find out its a problem with the wheel. Everyone says its the sensors coming loose but why is it fine when I unplug and re-plug the wheel?

Not sure that it will reassure you, but I've read tons of people complaining about the standard pedals and I have yet to run across an example where it was the wheel's fault.

I'm more afaid you'll get new pedals and instantly get fast enough to where I'll never beat your Rivals time.

FYI - I'm sure you already know this but the CSR pedals are up to preorder for $79. Ships Dec 1st.
