Brake pedal on my G923 is way to stiff.

I just got my first G923 wheel and the brake is so stiff that to get it to 100% I have to press so hard it slides my chair backwards I’m new to wheels is there anything I can do to adjust or make it more easy to press so it won’t move my chair?

Hi there,

The pedal is configured like that in order to give you better brake feeling and avoid bottoming out the pedal and locking up your brakes. Obviously with cars that have ABS that's not so much of an issue but in cars that don't have ABS you really shouldn't be pushing the brake to 100%; in fact where you should be pushing it to is roughly where the progressive spring starts to get stiffer.

Instead what's highly recommended is that you anchor your chair. A set of castor cups are one suggestion, or even sitting the back wheels of your chair into a pair of trainers. Once you have your chair locked in position then you'll be able to feel the benefit of that progressive spring.

Fantastic. I've yet to try the trainer solution but always good to have the option !

Any solution for this?

Just got a G923 after having a G29 for a year or so and I don't like the break pedal at all.

It's way to stiff and kinda bouncy.

Can I open the pedal up and change a spring or something?

Theres a small rubber stopper, just remove that. It was new addition to the wheel lineup. Wasn't there in Logitech G27

other mods people do include swapping gas/clutch spring. god knows why

But if you're like me, you'd order a GT Eye progressive spring mod for your G27 brake pedal... and like it! for me, it was the only mod i did for my wheel and never regretted it, helped immensly with brake feel and lap times

As has been pointed out, the G923 doesn’t have a rubber piece in there. It has a progressive spring instead, so getting the GT Eye isn’t going to make any difference 🙂

I'm shocked. They copied the design that modders liked. probably quite similar to what I have. THat's spooky. Just swap springs then put it in the clutch and get used to using paddles

Fun fact: opened it up to remove the rubber piece which took a while because the pedals are screwed together with roughly 2 billion screws. There was in fact no rubber so I did swap the clutch and break pedal springs. It’s better now. A bit too soft, but it works :)

Next question: wheel does not show up in the g hub software. Ideas?

Never showed up. Just want to check if I have the latest firmware and reduce true force slightly.

Anyway. Just found out the wheel doesn’t support Mac and therefore doesn’t show up in G Hub even though G Hub is supported.

No big deal, just a bit annoying.

Am I missing out by possibly not having the latest firmware?

Might grab a PC from work if so.

Ah Mac - yes, not supported on that platform. If you ever do get the Pro Wheel then it is supported on Mac for performing firmware updates but that's it. There's no new firmware for the PS version of G923 and settings aren't stored in the wheel anyway, so you're all good.

Hello, hello,

Just had my G923 recently and I am not enjoying the breaking system. It is just too stiff.

So, you swapped the springs of the clutch and break right? Still using this way? Thoughts on the change?

I did. I’d say it’s a bit too soft now, but I take it over the stiff pedal it was before.

If you want to go down that rabbit hole I’d suggest getting a set of different springs on Amazon and experiment with them a bit.

Keep in mind that you have to unscrew roughly 2 billion screws for the swap.

Well, I just receive the wheel so I need to play a bit more. Maybe I will get used to the stiffness of the pedal.

I even thought that the product was defective but after reading several experiences I found out that it is usual.

I will give this original setup a try.

Keeping in mind the 2 billion screws. :D

Keep in mind my advice further up the thread: the usual reason people think it's too stiff is because their chair is not secured and keeps pushing back under braking. Getting that solved gives you the necessary leverage and then you'll appreciate the better level of feel that the progressive spring gives you, to help prevent brake lockup 😊

My chair is well fixed to the floor (I used a set of fixed feet instead of the weels) and the pedals are also well fixed to the floor right now and I have to say that I enjoy this brake pad more than the G29 (i had a G29 before). I am still getting used but I am enjoying so far :)
