First off let me say this is a great community and alot of talent here. Thats why I figured I might be able to get some help from all of you.

Ive read almost every single post, faq, drift setting you name it, and I tried just about every single car with every single setting that I can.

I can get sideways very easy. However once sideways 1 of 2 things happens.

1. After gettings sideways no matter how crazy my angle (sometimes a complete 90degree angle) the second I apply counter steer the car pulls completely the other way and corrects itself, stopping the drift.

2. This is my new problem, I get the car sideways, apply countersteer, everything is going good, then the car just stays sideways and moves in a straight line into about the middle of the turn and just comes to a stop.

Im really confused about what Im doing wrong, Everyone says countersteer but even a slight tap in that direction pulls me out of the drift, and I really dont get how to use the gas cause if I even tap the gas lightly for just a second I completely spin out no matter what my angle is.

Ill post some videos soon to show what I mean.

Also Im using a 86 Trueno with Sherons settings, and Im using either side weight transfer or acceloff to get sideways, no ebrake for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ill make sure to get some videos before the weekend so you can see what I mean.

two threads are not going to get you replies or friends any faster here. . . But I do admire you use of the edit button : ) welcome to GTP

well it doesn't matter about the e brake, heck i used the ebrake or two in that livin la vida touge vid and wel come to gtp

enjoy the settings

hm.... seems like a very hard problem there.... never happend to me when i was learning i would just spin out... try going a bit slower or try not to get so sideways... then once u got that down u can go back to going 90

Welcome to GTPlanet.net Angelus 1970 :)

It sounds like you do not have enough oversteer. If you use the Trueno, try to keep the oversteer constant. Try tapping the throttle and see what happens.

Like what ToyotaDrifter said, I have a really hard time understanding what your problem is, so I will have to go try it myself soon :)

I honestly think my problem was that I was using the directional pad as odd as that may sound. I decided to shell out the money and got the 900 degree gt4 wheel. And well..... all the sudden my drifts looks great, a little woobly as im getting used to the wheel, but the previous problems have magicly disappeared.

So i think the problem might have just been the all or nothing use of the directional pad.

Thanks for the help though all

hey angelus1970, did you get your name from ridge racer v:D
sorry im off topic

Nah I got Angelus cause I used to go by the name Fallen Angel but written in Latin for some other games. So this time I just stuck with Angelus, and 1970 is the year of my Mustang Mach1

yea everyone used the handbrake to drift one stage at another and to be the absolute best drifter you have to use all the styles

Actually I do have a question for everyone about something I cant quite grasp.

In all the videos I see of people from the forums, every is punching the throttle halfway through a turn and through the exit. However If even touch the gas in a drift I instantly spin out. Im pretty sure its not because of my angle because alot of the videos the people have a much greater angle than me, but are still punching the gas and not spinning out.

So basicly is there some kinda trick that im not getting to using the throttle in a drift. Cause for me any gas = spinout.

I have a theory though, so tell me if Im right.

The way Im getting sideways right now is poweroversteer, and im pretty much almost breaking 90 as soon as I lose traction in the rear, having to countersteer like crazy.

Would a better technique be to just barely break traction and then use the gas to get a greater angle?

You might find another post I recently made to a similar thread to be useful:

Basically it's a matter of keeping your weight distributed near the center in the rear-end. If you use tons of power to really toss it like crazy in the beginning, then you will need to back off a lot while the weight settles back to center or any more throttle will make you spin out. It's not so much a matter of barely breaking traction, but breaking traction with weight distributed more evenly along the right and left rear tires.
