With the new car limit at 37 cars ( 36 cars + 1 car for the champion of Stock Car Light), some people are going to have to show more work to have a seat next season.

Here's some news:

- Repsol sponsorship for "Boettger Competições Team" ended, so the team didn't renewed the contract with Raul Boesel. Instead they'll keep David Muffato (2003 Champion) and signed Alceu Feldmann (that ran 2004 at "RS Competições Team"). No sponsor was announced till today.

- Philips sponsorship left "C.Alves Racing" and took the drivers, Carlos Alves and Luis Carreira Jr. to JF Racing (the team i work). By the way, my team boss said that we will probably have a car at the Stock Car Light next year.

- Filipaper sponsorship, that left JF Racing, took both their money and the drivers, Ingo Hoffman and Sandro Tannuri, to "AMG Motorsport".

- "C.Alves Racing", owned by the driver Carlos Alves, was sold to Fábio Sotto Mayor (1988 Champion), that will rename the team and already confirmed Marcos Fantinati to drive one of the cars.

- Roberto Moreno, Christian Fittipaldi and Luciano Burti will participate, this monday and tuesday, of the free practice runs at Interlagos. The only confirmed, is that Christian Fittipaldi will try a seat at "WB Motorsport /Texaco". The team is losing Chico Serra (1999,2000 and 2001 Champion) for Bassani/Pamplona Racing. Popó Bueno, the other driver, is not confirmed to continue.

EDITED: It seems that Christian Fittipaldi will drive for them next year, to fill the seat left by Chico Serra.

- "Wogel Motorsport/Golden Cross" confirmed Thiago Camilo and Gualter Salles for next year. André Bragantini will drive for another team next year (not yet know).

- Valdeno Brito, 2004 Rookie of the year, signed for 3 years with his actual team, "LM Racing", and got a new sponsor, MultiToys.

- Finally some more car manufactures decided to join the event. Not yet confirmed, but for next year, Toyota, Renault, Fiat and Mitsubishi will probably join the championship to compete against Chevrolet. The bodies would be based on the Corolla, Mégane Sedan II, Marea and Lancer. Chevrolet will continue with the Astra. The car will use the same chassis and engines. By the way, the Corolla sold in Brazil is the same one sold in USA, so the design will probably be good.

- Fábio Carreira will drive for "Katalogo Racing" next year. He finished the 2004 Stock Car Light season at the 4th place. The other driver will probably be Pedro Gomes, who drove for AMG Motorsport this season. He has a test schedule for this monday.

- "Action Power" hired the german engineer, Wolfgang Knobi, that used to work for Mercedes-Benz DTM Team to help them next year.

- Giuliano Losacco, 2004 champion, that drove for "RC Competition/Itupetro" will drive for "A.Mattheis/Médley Genéricos" next year. He signed a 2 year contract, and Guto Negrão will continue driving there.

- Luciano Burti will probably drive for "RC Competition/Itupetro" the 2004 champion team. Antônio Jorge Neto, that drove for "A.Mattheis/Médley Genéricos" in 2004 will be the 2nd driver.

This is just some news that are confirmed. And the 2004 season ended today!

It seems that 2005, the Brazilian V8 Stock Cars will be full of famous drivers!

The new race track, at Santa Cruz do Sul, will be the first race of the 2005 Championship.

Here's the track layout. The construction is set to finish next month.

Hey Johnny, thanks for the updates!

Is Santa Cruz do Sul at Rio Grande do Sul? I live in Santa Catarina, maybe I could go there to watch the race.

And good luck for your team. 👍

Isso mesmo. Santa Cruz do Sul, fica no Rio Grande do Sul. Pelo que vi de fotos, o autódromo será muito bom, bem moderno.

Valeu pelo Boa Sorte. A equipe vai ter bastante trabalho pro ano que vem.

Abraços.

Great update Johny! 👍 out of all of the car pictures you posted why did you post your own teams picture? Man you must be working your ass right now? how is your team doing?

I have to do some Team marketing don't you think? But it's now worthless since Filipaper is not our main sponsor (like i said, they took their money and both drivers to AMG Motorsport). Anyway just one of the pics is from my Team's cars.

We had some problems early on the 2004 season, but we managed to get some good results. Ingo won 2 races but some DNF's didn't let him fight for the Championship. Curiously both the races he won, were in Jacarepaguá.

Our drivers finish the championship on opposite positions. Ingo Hoffman finished at the 6th position with 88 points, and Sandro Tannuri with 37 points at the 16th position.

I didn't went to Interlagos today (i was too damn tired after the race yesterday), but i'll probably be there tomorrow, since it's the final free practice of the year.

For next year, things will be totally different. Different main sponsor (Philips), new drivers (Luiz Carreira Jr. and Carlos Alves), and probably new sponsors as well a manufacturer contract (since there will new car companies participating next year).

I'm like the Team Boss Assistant nowadays. I still help the car setups (suspensions more specifically), but i spend most of the time by the track talking to the drivers and checking lap times.

The pit stops were mainly for gas, but it doesn't happen anymore. Tire change during the race is being discussed for next season as my boss said.

Races usually have 1 hour / 1 hour and 20 min. long. 40 , 45 laps max. Don't know if this will be changed for more laps.

I wish i was the Team Boss. If i were him, i would be driving his Ferrari and not my Chevrolet/Opel Astra :dopey:

I'm like in the middle. I'm not the Boss but i'm not "just a mechanic" either. But there are several people in higher places than me. My team boss, the 1st car chief engineer, the 2nd car chief engineer, the managers,... The team has 35 people working.

I started working for JF Racing 2 years ago. Before it, i was a mechanic for a South-American F3 Team (The team sadly ended).

Back to the topic, you can watch the races at TV Globo Internacional, a brazilian channel avaiable on some cable/satelitte in USA, Europe and Japan.

Well that sucks you dont get to drive his Ferrari but you get to drive an Astra which is kinda cool. Did you tweak that up yet? I got both Cable and Satelitte but on Satelitte we only get these few channels my parents ordereded that they like so I cant watch that unfortunally but I will look around and see If I can download it from somewhere. That link in my signature. :D

You should get GTPlanet.net as one of the sponsors.:D Are those Astras basiclly the same as the DTM Astras?

Well, kind off. The idea is similar to the DTM / V8 Stars. The chassis was developed here in Brazil. The body is based on the Chevrolet Astra Sedan.

For next year, 4 manufactures might enter in the championship:

- Fiat -> Marea
- Renault -> Mégane Sedan II
- Mitsubishi -> Lancer
- Toyota -> Corolla

At this moment i don't know which one(s) will definately enter, but at least it won't be a Chevrolet domination anymore.

Anyway, the body is made with plastic + strenghtened fiberglass, but some internal parts are carbon fiber.

The engine, is a 5.7 Chevy V8, imported from USA (The same engine is used on Nascar). The power is lowered to 450HP, so it can still be fast, and reliable.

The minimul weight of the car, with the drivers and fuel already in, is 1.230kg.

The Maximum speed registered this season: 268 Km/h at Jacarepaguá

My road version Astra? i did some small changes. Replaced the ECU for a better one, lowered the suspension a bit (springs and shock absorvers were replaced), and added better tyres and rims.

You know, more power to you Brazilian folk with this Brazilian stock car deal. And as I say, this is why I wanted to stress and talk about other motorsport around the world. Though I'm not South American, I felt pretty offended when I read a negative comment about no South American tracks in Gran Turismo 4. The world is full of motorsport. The world of motorsport isn't just World Rally, Formula One, sportscar racing, some touring car series, etc. Maybe some don't take this as seriously as I do, but I feel that wanting to know more about other motorsports the world over has gotten me into wanting to see the world of motorsport. The EXACT world at that.

Johnny, this is a wonderful oppurtunity for me to read about this Brazilian stock car deal. Hope everything goes well for you all in Brazil!

Thanks dude. You was always very friendly and interested in all stuff i've posted. I agree with you when motorsport is everywhere. I watch everything i can, and i read a lot of websites because of this.

WOW, I didn´t know that. Great news Johnny!

I hope they all enter the championship, it would be awesome!

And I don´t think that having Globo International channel would help much, since they broadcast just a few races along the hole season. Damn bastards! I guess only Sportv has the hole season broadcasted, and I don´t have this channel. :(

I hope this changes in next season though, cause Brazilian Stock Car is getting bigger every year, and it´s time for Globo to start showing all the races. And lose Galvão Bueno also. :p

Well, it's not confirmed that all those manufacturers/cars will join the championship, but at least one of them will.

My boss said it will probably be at least 3 next year. So if we count the actual one, Chevrolet, 2 of those 4 are already confirmed.

I'm suspecting that Mitsubishi is one of them, since the Argentinians Gabriel Furlán and Emiliano Spataro participated of the free practice runs yesterday and today, and Gabriel Furlán even participated on the last race of the season on Sunday. Both of these drivers race for Mitsubishi in the Argentinian TC2000 Championship ( if i'm not mistaken).

Anyway, i'll try to keep you guys informed.

Heh, if Johnny keeps this up, well have to nickname him the "Brazilian Jayski." (for those who don't know, www.Jayski.com keeps people informed about NASCAR and other related news that the www.NASCAR.com site doesn't have or doesn't have the time for. Most of his information is spot on.)

pimp racer
Hey didnt you have a practice session today? How did it go?

Well those were only practice runs for newer drivers or actual drivers that switched teams for next season. What we did mostly was pack everything on the truck.

It was cool to see drivers like Luciano Burti (F1), Christian Fittipaldi (F1,Cart), and the argentinians Gabriel Furlán and Emilian Spataro.

I"ll try to find the lap times for you guys.

Yeah it must be a pleasure to meet them. Ohh Lap times! GOOD! :D

Well, I'm honored to read about this racing series, Johnny. I know I normally try to follow American and European racing series (I wonder if we're going to get some more JGTC coverage on Speed Channel? And don't give me that [I}ratings[/I] ****), but any chance I get to learn about racing series that may not be on the level of Formula One or the Le Mans enduro, I want to take advantage. Besides, I think some of the best racers from South America come from Brazil. Brazil to South America is the United Kingdom to Europe when it comes to racing. And another example of Brazilian ownage, what's the nationality of the 2004 IRL Champ?

Okay, maybe I'm getting a little carried away with Brazilian motorsport, but yeah. Anyhow, let's hope for a great season there. I also wouldn't mind seeing a non-championship race for the American Le Mans Series to race at either Brasilia or Interlagos. Maybe even that new track in Sao Paulo. The ALMS already has a South American superstar in Milka Duno, so why not try out South America?

Maybe I should put that into my other thread on South America, but just wanted to talk about that.

Since you like it so much, i'm going to post a link of the official Stock Car site that has some pics that tell the history of the series.

http://www.stockcar.com.br/historia/campeoes_stockcar_fotos.asp

From 1979, the first year of the series till last year's winner David Muffato. (This year winner was Giuliano Losacco).

The Chevrolet Opala was used from 1979 to 1986. Then from 1987 to 1993 they used a body based on the Opala, but with some aerodynamical stuff. From 1994 till 1999 the body was based on the Chevrolet Omega. From 2000 till 2003, the body was based on the Chevrolet Vectra. 2004 started with the use of Chevrolet Astra Sedan.

Next year, like i mentioned already, another companies will join the championship.

Talk to you guys later. Enjoy those cool old pics.

Some bad news.

Philips decided not to sponsor us. Instead they'll sponsor Team Scuderia 111.

Their drivers will be Luis Carreira Jr. and Tom Stefani.

I still don't know what happened for them (philips) to break their pre-contract with JF Racing.

I'm not with the team at the moment, since most of us are enjoying the free time (holidays), so i don't know how the reaction of them was like ( although i don't think they are happy about it)

Oh mant that sucks to hear! Man I would be pissed! So do you guys got the old sponsor?

Well, as far as i know we are sponsorless for now (i'm talking about the main sponsor in the car). No drivers either, since Luis Carreira Jr. went to Scuderia 111 (He holds the Philips sponsor) and Carlos Alves still haven't called my boss.

I'm kinda angry, but you have no idea how my boss, and the team managers are.

Anyway, i don't think that getting a new sponsor will be difficult.
