With the new car limit at 37 cars ( 36 cars + 1 car for the champion of Stock Car Light), some people are going to have to show more work to have a seat next season.
Here's some news:
- Repsol sponsorship for "Boettger Competições Team" ended, so the team didn't renewed the contract with Raul Boesel. Instead they'll keep David Muffato (2003 Champion) and signed Alceu Feldmann (that ran 2004 at "RS Competições Team"). No sponsor was announced till today.
- Philips sponsorship left "C.Alves Racing" and took the drivers, Carlos Alves and Luis Carreira Jr. to JF Racing (the team i work). By the way, my team boss said that we will probably have a car at the Stock Car Light next year.
- Filipaper sponsorship, that left JF Racing, took both their money and the drivers, Ingo Hoffman and Sandro Tannuri, to "AMG Motorsport".
- "C.Alves Racing", owned by the driver Carlos Alves, was sold to Fábio Sotto Mayor (1988 Champion), that will rename the team and already confirmed Marcos Fantinati to drive one of the cars.
- Roberto Moreno, Christian Fittipaldi and Luciano Burti will participate, this monday and tuesday, of the free practice runs at Interlagos. The only confirmed, is that Christian Fittipaldi will try a seat at "WB Motorsport /Texaco". The team is losing Chico Serra (1999,2000 and 2001 Champion) for Bassani/Pamplona Racing. Popó Bueno, the other driver, is not confirmed to continue.
EDITED: It seems that Christian Fittipaldi will drive for them next year, to fill the seat left by Chico Serra.
- "Wogel Motorsport/Golden Cross" confirmed Thiago Camilo and Gualter Salles for next year. André Bragantini will drive for another team next year (not yet know).
- Valdeno Brito, 2004 Rookie of the year, signed for 3 years with his actual team, "LM Racing", and got a new sponsor, MultiToys.
- Finally some more car manufactures decided to join the event. Not yet confirmed, but for next year, Toyota, Renault, Fiat and Mitsubishi will probably join the championship to compete against Chevrolet. The bodies would be based on the Corolla, Mégane Sedan II, Marea and Lancer. Chevrolet will continue with the Astra. The car will use the same chassis and engines. By the way, the Corolla sold in Brazil is the same one sold in USA, so the design will probably be good.
- Fábio Carreira will drive for "Katalogo Racing" next year. He finished the 2004 Stock Car Light season at the 4th place. The other driver will probably be Pedro Gomes, who drove for AMG Motorsport this season. He has a test schedule for this monday.
- "Action Power" hired the german engineer, Wolfgang Knobi, that used to work for Mercedes-Benz DTM Team to help them next year.
- Giuliano Losacco, 2004 champion, that drove for "RC Competition/Itupetro" will drive for "A.Mattheis/Médley Genéricos" next year. He signed a 2 year contract, and Guto Negrão will continue driving there.
- Luciano Burti will probably drive for "RC Competition/Itupetro" the 2004 champion team. Antônio Jorge Neto, that drove for "A.Mattheis/Médley Genéricos" in 2004 will be the 2nd driver.
This is just some news that are confirmed. And the 2004 season ended today!
It seems that 2005, the Brazilian V8 Stock Cars will be full of famous drivers!
