Bridge on my Fender acting weird...

So I bought new strings for my guitar today, but when I'm tuning them my bridge is being stretched unusuallly high out of the body. In fact, each time I tune a higher string, I need to go back and re-tune the others. I've been tuning them so many times now that my whammy bar is nearly touching my strings when I just hold it above the strings without pushing it down.

The reason I'm wondering is because this hasn't happened to me when I re-did the strings on my old guitar and bass.

Any thoughts?
