I had an English test a few days ago, and it involved listening to a recording and answering questions. Obviously quite easy...

But the man on the recording had the most irritating accent ever!

He would pronounce "ing" as "ink", it drove me nuts.

Does anybody know where in GB people talk like this? I want to sue some-one there or bomb it or something.

Wow. such a grown-up attitude. You'll go far, prick.

"Something."
"Summink" - often spoken by someone who is "common" or wears a burbury baseball cap, or doesn't bother with school, because it's not 'cool', the type that usually hangs around on street corners starting fights with other people that hang around on street corners.
"Somethink" - "posh" or usually psuedo-posh. the upperclass don't speak like this. It's an act, so to speak.

You Dutch sound very strange, but you'll not see me giving Sadam a backhander for a spare H-bomb.

No, not like that! Really really really overdone.

More like: somethinkque.

We dutch indeed sound very strange, we think and act strange too. It balances eachother out. ;)

Saddam's got spares? - How much, how much?!

I was in Amsterdam last week. I can tell you why you act strange. You buy it from Coffee shops, and it's legal. ok?

Well, it's probably a very well spoken, mild upperclass accent. No harm. It's better than "ain't ain't a word, ain't it?" *shudder*

p.s. £1.2million get's you a couple of megatons worth of bomb, I think.

All I know is some Brits and Aussies add the r sound to words when it does not belong. I think it would be cool to have a brit accent. my voice is annoying.

I was on the phone with John a few weeks ago, he said I sound like Osama.

And proud of it.

Hmmm... Cockney maybe  I hate when people pronounce ing as ink it's so irritating :thatsodd:

I've heard quite a lot of Latin people say "ink" in place of "ing".

Who crawled up your ass? Calm down, mate.

Heeey, how do you know how Osama sounds like?

He's my uncle.

I like South African, Scottish and Irish accents. I cant stand the Poms. Especially that guy from VC, Mark Kent?? Sumfing lyke dat.

South Africa? Those people bug the **** out of me. They sound like they have a mouth full of gravel. I wanna just smack 'em and say "learn to speak white man!"

English accents annoy me, too. Sorry. I know American English is derivative, but it's less annoying nonetheless.

I always wondered, when taking language classes in school, why learning the correct accent (loosing the American accent) was so important. When I listen to anyone for whom English is a second language I can hear their Mexican, German, Arabic accents right away. So why do we have to loose the accent?

And as a side note... The nuke and Al Quaida jokes are in poor taste.

I think most people like the accents that sound closest to what they're used to.

I should clarify so as not to alienate all the Brits...
I meant some English accents. I'm not familiar with the names of the different accents but one or two of them sound ridiculous. I like the host of Changing Rooms' accent. Is that Welsh?
