Here's my latest G25 issue: while racing a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the wheel felt a bit "floppy". Closer inspection revealed that the wheel appeared to be "broken" at the join of the leather just above the left "spoke" of the wheel. It feels as if the wheel has separated at that point & is now just held together by the leather wrap. This surprises me a bit since I always assumed that the metal rim of the wheel was a single piece.

Anyone have any insight as to what the construction of the wheel is under the leather? Either way, it would appear that the wheel is a gonner, since I don't fancy my skills at "re-stitching" the leather if I take it apart! :(

i think its made of plastic, but im not sure.

but if you can afford it, you should buy a chilicoke adapter and attach a MOMO wheel to your G25 to replace your broken wheel rim.

Its plastic, You might be able to epoxy it back together, but yeah it would require unstiching the leather and re-stitching it.

I have an old g25 wheel thats just collecting dust (since i've already swaped a sparco wheel on it), If you want it I could send it to you, As long as you cover postage.

Oh and you'll need to re-use your buttons, as I've cut the wires on them to be able to wire up my sparco buttons.

Its plastic

You know that for sure? It does seem likely given what happened to my wheel. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm assuming that someone yanked the wheel from the top to move the Playseat cockpit away from the TV. The wheel is almost 3 years old, so it's had a decent run.

unstiching the leather and re-stitching it.

... yeah, I can just imagine what that would look like when finished!

Thanks for your generous offer, Grog. I might take you up on that - I have a UPS account & could arrange for a pick up. I'll PM you ...

I have the same issue.

Called logitech and got a 50% discount on a G27.

If biggles doesnt take your kind offer any chance I could?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is a plastic rim, I saw a picture of one that was cannabalized by a member here a while back.

Let me know if you want my old wheel.

I just remembered you will also have to re-use the plastic center peice (that has the logitec logo on it) since I yanked the sticker off, its a trivial part but I thought i would mention it.
