Hey all! So been a GT7 fan for a while now and didn't do much but 'race' the cars as they are. Adjust just tires and that's about it. I spend my time racing a real car! :) But have been getting into things a bit more of late....why?

I'm a HUGE BTCC fan from the late 90's. I have 60+ diecast from back then, 1/43 scale, of all the NATCC and BTCC cars! And love watching the current teams/races.

So thought to build a "real" BTCC type car using some current cars that match and some other FWD/RWD cars that could pass for BTCC. I've done mostly ai searches to get a start, but curious if anyone has delved into this on here? I did a search but only seemed to come up with skins, and not for GT7 from what I could tell?

BTW, used to develop BTCC cars for the Sportscar GT racing game back in the day, VERY cool back then. It was part of The Pits Racing team. I did car files to make the cars drive like FWD/RWD cars and a few other guys I put together handled tracks and skins....it was VERY cool and much missed.

So I'm trying my hand at this. Set up a FL5 Civic, no kidding, and it runs great so far....I have a Focus, BMW 4 series and Toyota Yaris in the works now.

Any help appreciated!

Scrolling down, you’ll see a couple threads I’ve shared in regards to basic touring car and super touring cars specs. The Super Tpuring car thread have the FL5 and various other FF cars. The TC America thread have the series info and cars that run in that. With the addition of the ELANTRA N TC and it being available for GT SOPHY, makes it a really good series to build.

There are other members that have made similar builds.

So curious, going through those sheets a little bit, the horsepower is quite a bit less than the actual BTCC cars… I’m assuming because these are not BTCC builds lol

A couple cars that I have worked on are pretty close to the actual track times at Brands Hatch, which is the only track sadly that they run on in GT seven. I mean I’m a few seconds off just because they actually race cars and I don’t on those tracks but…

Just mostly going after the feel… but this is a nice starting point for some other of the cars that I had thought about messing around with.

And I typically run these in a custom race against GT four cars and it’s pretty competitive. I set up a five lap raise and I can usually get pretty close to second or third place. There’s always that one car that’s stupid fast lol but it’s very competitive otherwise versus standard AI racing and some of those other races you come across weekly.

For sure. Some of the builds haven’t been updated due to updates that have adjusted the PP. Some builds I just leave as a base for members to adjust as they wish.
I try to balance the cars as best as possible. So, some specs might not be exact like the 350 BHP/1270-1300 kg specs BTCC currently run, as the AI aren’t as balanced at those specs. Some cars may perform better than others making the field lopsided. Could be the nuances or one car having better aero, but another car having a better torque output.

Might revisit the BTCC, but having seen what’s coming in October, I’ll be sharpening up my Group A cars. :)

Nice. I also love the fact they’re coming out with a couple new tracks. Still way too many world-class circuits that are not available lol but beggars can’t be choosers.

And I’m mostly doing this just for fun. I’ll try and run against similar AI but it’s more about just creating a car that I’ve really loved the series since the 90s.

So I spent a bit last night tweaking some things while the wife worked a bit late....

The FL5 Type R, the Ford Focus ST and the BMW 4 series are pretty dialed in. Just working on weights and power, but adding or deleting based on times. I'm working on Sardegna Road track C, for some reason...lol...and have all the car ABOUT the same lap times.

Moving to Brands Hatch though, more realistic at least. And maybe one of the shorter Japan courses eventually.

I have the Volvo V40, Mercedes Hatch, Elantra N all about done, just need to find time to run and fine tune them.

Also....reaching out to some ACTUAL BTCC race teams to see if anyone of them races GT7 to see if someone can try my setups to see how they compare since I have no real barometer aside from my limited track time in a 315hp Type R :)
