I've been watching old '90's era BTCC on youtube recently and have been inspired to get a similar race series going here.

Short series, one race per week, going though the 5 Super Touring Trophy events.

I've got 30 or so cars I'm looking at to choose from, and here's how the format would go:

Pick two cars for your garage. Take each to the events in order (Apricot Hill first week) and do test laps to get a best lap time, 10 laps maximum. That'll be kind of like how FIA GT1 has two events, the first with only a few points awarded to determine positions for the second event, which awards lots of points. Then enter the race and submit total time for the race, best lap time, and maximum speed. I'll award points as follows:

For best lap times in test laps:
1st = 6 points
2nd = 5 points
3rd = 4 points
4th = 3 points
5th = 2 points
6th = 1 point

For best time in the race
1st = 24 points
2nd = 18 points
3rd = 12 points
4th = 10 points
5th = 8 points
6th = 6 poinits
7th = 4 points
8th = 3 points
9th = 2 points
10th = 1 point

in the race, best single lap time wins a bonus point, and top speed wins another bonus point.

Your two cars will make a team to go for team champion, in addition to each of your cars competing for driver's championship. Also for fun there will be a manufacturer's championship.

As normal in the rules, 4WD gets a 100kg penalty, FR gets a 50kg penalty. I'll also give older cars a 5kg reduction per year before 1999. And since some of the historical cars which should be 2L we find in the game with more or less displacement, there's a 10kg penalty/bonus for each 0.1L over/under 2L.

Also just for fun, cars which historically won the BTCC either for an individual driver or for a manufacturer from 1989-1999 will get a slight boost in hp, and cars which were never in the BTCC will get a slight penalty.

Base tuning will be to 4.4 kg/hp, with semi-race suspension, sports tires, racing gears, racing clutch, custom LSD, racing flywheel, carbon driveshaft if applicable, sports brakes, and brake balance controller.

Some of the cars that will be available are:
Primeras
Laguna
Mondeo
A4
320ci
406
Vectra
Mazda 323 4Door, GT-X, and 323F
Accords
Corona Exiv
Alfa 155 and 156 2.0 TS
Golf GTI 1.8T
Galant VR-4's
Altezza RS200 and Lexus IS200
Neon ACR
Impreza Sedan '94
Legacy Sports RS '93
Lan Evo III GSR
Civic Ferio's and a couple hatches
Astra
maybe a couple Corollas

2-doors will get another slight penalty

I'll send out some PM's to recruit people over the next couple days. As soon as we have 6 people who want to race I'll get it started.

How come no one ever came to this idea? It's excellent I would be more than happy to participate 👍 although I don't like idea of having ballast penalty for different drivetrains - it would be hard to measure this since you can't add weight accurately like in GT4. And I don't think there should be any kinds of boost hp bonus but that's up to you to decide.
Anyway I would like to enter this. :)

Yeah, I've been setting up the cars and playing with them a bit, and the penalties for drivetrain, age, and historical accuracy all add up to too much, even when I reduced them. In GT2 being 4WD or FR isn't as much of an advantage as it is in real life I guess. So once we get a few more people in for this short series, we'll do it without penalties.

It's nice after having watched '89-'99 of the BTCC to see how many of the race liveries are 100% accurate!

I'll redo the rules a little bit and send out invitations today, hopefully we cna get this started later this week.
