Budget Wheel Suggestions?

Can anyone suggest a decent budget wheel that won't set me back too much in cost? I had been saving up for a good Fanatec set up, but other issues will be preventing me from going this direction (such as shelling out 4 grand for my daughter's braces).

Any particular models I should avoid?

Thx

I have the DFGT and although it doesn't have the feel of more expensive wheels, it does the job. I win regularly and my laptimes compare with the best so I don't believe there's a performance issue I'm not aware of. I have a bungee cord mod for a better feel/feedback on the pedals and it works well, but it's not pretty ...lol. I'd buy one again. I got it just before Christmas last year for $99.

probably better suited for here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=163

I purchased a DFGT w/ pedals for $89.00 off EBAY. Works great for me,
I also went here http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...Tfn3N93yg&sig2=cxLYXnt--Fb8pgiRlASRKA&cad=rja for tips on building a rig. Mine took about 40 minutes build time (I used PVC) works great and cost less than 50 bucks!

Oops sorry about that.., didn't realize there was a full section for this already. Mods.., go ahead and move this if you want.

Thx

Buy the Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel. I got it for $30 refurb online, and it's great.
No pedals, but paddles.
I can't set up a whole cockpit in my living room, so this functions incredibly well.

Wow that's cheap..., if there aren't any pedals are paddles used for braking and accelerating? If so.., how does this work? I was at our local Best Buy the other day, and they had one new in the box and that darn thing was priced at $150.00 :scared:

Get the DFGT.
Great price, adjustable race trim, and was made for Gran Turismo.

Brake and accelerating are done via buttons on wheel. I would not suggest this, as you can find them for 1/2 cost on Amazon or Ebay with warranty from refurbs. Make sure you mod the pedals with bungie or squeeze ball!

For the money you can't go wrong with this thing, especially if you've never had a wheel. Just be ready to get frustrated from being a worse driver for a few weeks till you get the feel of using it.

Just a suggestion but also look into a mount. I referenced an inexpensive way to make one earlier. They are meant to be mounted onto some type of rigging.

It wouldn't be my first wheel :) I currently have the MS Wireless Racing Wheel for my XBox, and use it a lot. I've been wanting a wheel for my PS3 for a while now. I was just at Amazon and see that I can get the DFGT for $124, and it ships for free with their Super Saver Shipping. I just might place an order for that one.

Not sure if I can get used to paddles for braking and accelerating. I already use paddles for shifting on my MS Wheel. I can see myself tripping over my own fingers trying to drive, shift, brake, and accelerate with your hands.

If you buy the DFGT from Amazon it should come with pedals. Also if you are happy with your MS wheel like I was since that was my first wheel also then you will be thrilled with the DFGT. The force feedback is much stronger and the pedals are a bit better too. eBay is also a good place to look if you want to save a few bucks.

Also if you are using the MS wheel on your lap, you will not be able to do so with the the DFGT. It has to be mounted to something.

Sign up for logitechs newsletter, and they will send you a coupon for 50% off any one item they have. You could get a G27 for under 150$ or a DFGT for 70$. I'm not positive they send them to everyone, but I got one a few days after signing up. It's worth a try and a really good deal on both wheels.

Where is the link on their site? I'm at the US site, and can't find the link for this newsletter.

Usually when you register on most sites there is a check box to give you the option for a newsletter. Its just my hunch.

DFGT is better and cheaper than the microsoft wheel - go for it you wont regret... new cost less than 100$

DFGT is a great budget wheel, just bungie mod the pedals, and your good to go. Search around for the best price though.

Found it! Thanks.., I hope I get a discount coupon for signing up.
The one I got a few weeks ago I wasn't going to use, so I posted it in the 150$ wheel thread. It was only good for a week and I don't think anyone ever used it. I couldn't believe nobody wanted a half price G27.

The problem is finding someone that has the money at that very moment. (also most of the people with the money probably already have a good wheel.)

That was my problem with finding someone. My real world friends I have that want a wheel, didn't have the money that week.

I just got a Logitech 50% off coupon in an email - very nice surprise. I have a DFGT now and thought about a G27 but I really want a cross-platform Fanatec.

For a budget wheel you can't go wrong with a DFGT.
