Bugatti Veyron & The Nurburgring

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone else had taken the Veyron around the ring, if so, what time did you manage to get? I'm trying to tune mine to get round but it is proving to be more of a chore atm, fastest I have maganed so far is a 6.48 but that lap included me running wide in certain places etc. so I do think it is capable of a faster time.

Basically I'm hoping someone can give me a super quick time compared to what I posted above so it seems worthwhile at least trying to make it faster lol!

I used racing soft tyres for that run, it was about midnight so I couldn't be bothered using anything else. Fastest lap I've seen on youtube is a 6.47 so far.

There is a faster time than that in it yet which I will try and get when I get a minute, might be able to get some friendly competition going lol!

(I got to the point where I was hearing everyone saying how the Veyron can't do anything when it comes to a corner so I want to come up with a set up that will make the Veyron handle a lot better than previous to prove them all wrong as it is a great car.)
 
loving the Veyron on the ring, cant say the same for my online competitors. Watch out for the dummies that think they going to pass you mid corner, especially the ones making this foolish attempt on the outside. You are heavier an will not do anything other than watch them bounce off you like they hit a wall when you begin to accelerate. Then they blame you, even though they have a mic but dont bother to say "hey im next to you". Idiot, that guy thinks I have time to look in my mirrors, 1260hp an no aero, I dont have time to check the mirrors every three seconds "dude", im holding on for dear life here "pal", brakes are mashed and steering still works, im not checking my mirrors. Why does this car even have mirrors ?
24hr Nurburgring in just over 8 minutes, no crash, way fun, DFGT.
Settings, default +, -.30 F toe, lower by 10 F/R, Camber F 1.7, R .7, LSD initial 60R, 30F. Full power, minimum weight.

Well I'm trying to fine tune the settings and it is better to drive. The braking is a lot better and the handling, although there is still some understeer, is a lot better, but what can you expect for such a heavy car though in all fairness. Either way, I think it can be made into a good-ish handling car so I'm going to give it a go ;)

So your running a similar time to me on the normal Nurburgring course then? As that track would take about a minute (at a guess) to do

It was only my third attempt, i kinda got lucky with the no crash anywhere, one bump noted but he asked for it. Could do a little better and I will, but Im pretty happy like this so...
 
just did a 6:40.236 in the Veyron around the Nurburgring. I did the run in practice mode with everything switched off except ABS ... I had the track edge set to real aswell (as I think that makes a difference.) (Racing Soft Tyres aswell)
 
6:38.193 I just ran, think there is a second or two left in it as I lost my line once or twice, but I'm happy with that.

I've always found it weird. Does the Veyron really understeer like that? Feels like trying to take a corner with the Titanic.

Its a heavy all wheel drive car with over a thousand horsepower, the only way it isn't understeering is with driving aids.
 
Mine doesn't understeer as bad as it does when standard and I only have ABS, no other aids are on mate.
 
right lol, suddenly not happy with that then lol!

i shall continue to push the veyron and see where i get with it. could still tune some oversteer into it yet to try and negate the understeer
 
I'd probs quit the lap after 20 mins trying to get around the 1st corner :lol: ! Bugatti has far too much understeer & I dare take it around the Ring, even if it's virtual!
 
yeah the veyron is like a rocket powered train. The braking is zomg horrible in it... which is surprising because the actual brake discs are the size of some heavy duty trucks brakes.. but still has a hard time stopping.. much like a real train
 
The Speed 12 is awesome. You have to adjust your driving to be able to use it properly.

been driving it for a while now, it just has very non-sensitive steering that you have to get used to, gotta slow down a bit more for corners because it cant turn as sharp.

wish it would handle as good as other cars of its caliber

The car is in more in line with the Veyron's and the Viper's than the sharp turning F1's.
