[SIZE=-1] Buick has introduced V8 version of its LaCrosse and Lucerne. They will be called LaCrosse Super and Lucerne Super respectively. The smaller and cheaper LaCrosse Super is powered by GM's small-block 5.3-liter ohv V8 like platform sister Pontiac Grand Prix GXP and Chevrolet Impala SS. The cheap V8 produces 300hp and 323 lbft of torque while its availability of cylinder deactivation means fuel consumption won't be too bad. Stiffer suspensions with Bilstein dampers, retuned steering and bigger brakes should lift handling, but whether its front-drive chassis can tame torque steer is another matter.

The more upmarket Lucerne Super is powered by the more sophisticated Northstar 4.6-liter DOHC V8, but its max output of 290hp and 288 lbft is actually smaller than the push-rod V8 employed by LaCrosse Super, but it is a slight improvement from the existing Lucerne CXS which uses a 275hp version of the same Northstar V8. The car has magnetic ride control as standard.

Outside, both Super models have a larger waterfall grille as their signature.[/SIZE]

I'm not a fan of the new front ends, but anything that makes the DeVille cry itself to sleep makes me happy. The names are kinda wierd, though.

Why is everyone so mean to the DeVille? Its alright for a FWD Caddy. Also, I love the idea of a LaCrosse with a V8.... Goes fast. :D

No, its not.
  1. FWD Cadillacs was the worst idea ever.
  2. The DeVille was actually pretty bad when it was new. 13 years ago.
  3. This is the only good FWD Cadillac. And MAYBE the Eldorado.
It also hasn't been what I would call "significantly updated" in 7 (arguably 13) years.
 
I still miss the 3800 S/C.

But I miss the turbo more.

Am I the only one who sees a problem with the LaCrosse having more power and torque over the Lucerne? If I am I'll shut up.
 
^ If GM can move any Buick, I think it'll make them happy enough.
 
They sell around here pretty good but then again everyone around here gets 7 grand knocked off the sticker in discounts.
