Well...an old FIA Touring Car lol.

We're building a E30 FIA Touring Car replica for vintage racing, I am trying to find ANY photos of the series from 1986.

Does anyone know where I can find a 1986 FIA OR SCCA rulebook?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not too sure of years, but here are a few photos of the late Will Hoy's E30 BTCC BMW -

And another shot

Unfortunately, I took some pretty good photos a few years back of Hoy's car when it was being displayed shortly after Will's death by his son at Donington. And they're on a CD somewhere which for the life of me I can't locate...

This will actually be a 325IS not a M3, BUT, the roll cage setups and such I am guessing would be the same.

Thanks for the info though, ANYTHING will help! :)

If your looking to take it racing a 1986 won't be any use to you as IIRC with classics you would still need to pass modern safety regs and to be honest i wouldn't fancy trusting a roll cage designed to 1986 spec if i crashed.

No doubt cracker will be along in a minute to prove me wrong though

^ This sub forum on the Ten-Tenths forum would be a great place to find the info you're after. I can't remember my own log-in details, so i can't find anything more specific. You'll probably need to register to be able to fully use the search facilities, but the guys there certainly know their stuff 👍

*edit* infact, there's a thread on the E30 here

A company like Demon Tweeks will sell an off-the-shelf cage for an E30, so that shouldn't be an issue. The one in the Cortina must be at least 30 years old by now, it was a grass track/rallycrosser before my dad bought it 20 years ago. It's actually the slightly more recent alloy cages that authorities aren't keen on these days. In the UK a race car needs to comply with the MSA's 'blue book' generic regulations to be able to race today, no matter what age the car is. I'd guess that most national racing authorities have similar regulations.

Thanks for the input guys!

This is a US built car, believe it or not, cage wise is suppose to be built to 1986 spec, everything is, to make it an official replica.
