Burnin' Down The House

Now that I've referenced a song that well over half GTP does not know, I'd like to tell you a story.

For those who are paying attention, this is being posted at roughly 4 AM, Eastern Standard Time. I am not normally inclined to even be awake at this hour, much less posting on a message board. So why am I up?

I awoke a few minutes ago to the sound of large trucks running in front of my house. Fire trucks. Moments later, I smelled smoke. Everything appeared to be in order, but I thought it wise to investigate anyway.

Sure enough, the firemen were interested in my apartment. Apparently my upstairs neighbor's stove had caught fire. All was well, but something struck me - I can't as much as singe a god-damned piece of toast (not even slightly) without the smoke alarm screeching its head off. In a real fire....not a peep! Somebody should teach the fire alarm some priorities before I burn in my bed.

Speaking of which, I should get back....night!

OMG! For a moment I thought you lived in my apartment! Today, like at roughly 5:30 am, I was woke up by my parents. They were looking outside the window at the firefighters parked on our very same street block. There were like 4 trucks. And all of the firefighters were coming inside our building. Then, we begin to smell smoke. I freaked out. I had never been in a fire. So we got out of the building, and stood there for about 20 minutes. In the end, nothing was on fire, but there was a problem in the boiler room, there was smoke incoming from there, but they fixed it. I am just glad nothing serious happened.
