I burned the crap outta my left arm today. The doctors told me 2nd degree.

This happend due to my stupid move. A belt came lose in my car while I was driving home from my girlfriends house. SO I pulled ove and thought I'd fix it. Well the engine was kinda hot and my left arm hit something in the engine that was really really hot. It took me a few second to relize that I had hit something hot. So now my left arm is blistered and red from my wrist to my elbow. It hurts bad.

I went to the emergecy room cause I didn't know what to do and the hospital was only like a mile away. So now I got to keep it wrapped up and put some creme on it.

So this goes to show you that engines are hot :D

Getting burn sucks. Getting almost impaled on rusty metal isn't as bad as getting burnt...I would know. If you want some more indepth info just ask...:D

Actually I think getting impaled is kinda worse then getting burnt...

I just read on some web site a good thing to do for burns is let the air get to it. So I'm trying it and it still hurts like ****

I said almost...Not really getting impaled. I was technically speaking of course. I would have to explain for you to have to understand.

What you said is you'ed rather be impaled then be burned.

You can't explain it any clearer.

All I said was "Getting impaled is worse"

and its true!

well, duh! there are 90% of the chances you'd get killed by getting impaled...

you guys obviously never put your hands on the exhaust manifold's heat shield...

I've burned myself before. Once I was reheating chicken-fried steak in the toster oven, set all the way up on toast. the dinger went off, so I was going to pull out the tray with tongs and put it on the stove and take the peices off...the tongs sucked, the tray slid and I caught it with the part between my thumb and pointer finger...then dropped it on the floor but it was on that area for a sec, and hurt(cause it was probably around 300 degrees).

My bro takes the cake though...one day after school 2 years ago, he just got done from driving over 85MPH in his 626 in a race on the way home, and when he got home, the exuast was making a rattling sound, so he gets out, and like an idiot pushes the exause pipe up with the same part I burned...that must have been hot as hell and he pushed up on it with a lot of force so it burned hard.

One of my freinds tripped over a hot pot cord at school, it sent the hot pot up into his hand and then landed top down on the floor...not only was he burned, the floor had a missing circle of linolium lol.

Street you probably touched the exaust header...that can heat up well over 350 degrees easily...

On this show on TLC, this guy was working at a milk processing plant, and was fixing a leaky hot water pipe...turned the valve the wrong way, and was blasted with 165 degree water which not only knocked him off the latter that he was on, but soaked his clothes and cooked him really well...over a month in the hospital.

Well, seeing as how I work in a kitchen, I am quite familiar with cut's and burns. If I had to pick the lesser of the two evils, I guess that I would have to go with a burn. They sting like hell for a while but then go away and you don't even notice them. Where cut's tend to irritate you longer, and when salt or some sort of acid get's in them, pain. By far though, a steam burn is the worst, I have watched my skin blister immediately right in front of me in a matter of seconds from a steam burn. But I have seen my skin melt away from a dry heat burn too. Steams the worst.

Street, just keep it cold if you can and put some neosporin on it. That is what I do and it tends to work well for me.

Wrong.

Any fire fighter will tell you that a person would MUCH rather get away from fire in any way possible than face it. Remember all those people jumping out of the World Trade Centre?

hmm,id rather get stabbed then burned, cuz i been stabbed 3 times right in the check by an ex-girlfriend (physco!!!) and well i didnt even notice it,4-inch knife, was weird.....

i burned my hand cooking ramens before, pouring water out,and it slipped, water went all over hand, burns hurt!!!!!

Ya I did touch the headers. The burn kind of matchs it :D

Also I can see my vains and they are black. Is that bad?

I work as a grill cook/busboy at a resturant, so I'm quite familiar to burns as well. I have had numerous burns on my arms from not being careful around hot grease and whatnot.

I burnt my elbow on a sparkler a while back.:Ouch: Rested my arm on the table and couldn't see it (burnt out). It hurt like hell. I still have the scar now.
