Buttkicker Simulation Kit

I was browsing buttkicker's website today and noticed a new product, the buttkicker simulation kit. It uses a mini concert which I thought was weird but it looks like it might be better than the gamer 2 package. It would definitely mount easier to my rig.

Anyone tried it yet?

The simulation package is basically the Gamer2 but with the larger transducer. Not a bad deal at $159 to $179 for the unit. The mini concert is smaller that the ButtKicker Advanced transducer but may be perfect for most gaming chairs/cockpits. The simulation package is still about $120 cheaper than the BKA300 that comes with the BK Advanced Transducer. Curious to hear if anybody has ordered one yet and tried it. I think Mr.Latte has a couple of BK mini's that are the same transducers as the mini concert.

Ive never owned the "Mini Concert" model but I'd very much expect it to be similar in performance to the "Mini LFE" model. The main difference is one uses 2ohms and the other 4ohms with 2ohms from the concert requiring twice the wattage for similar effect.

ButtKicker themselves don't seem to be able to put the same specs on different pages regards their Tactile products and the stickers on the units. So it's hard to be sure what's right regards specs.

Although if your going with ButtKicker do consider the BKA300-4/NW amplifier as it can run 4x "Mini LFE" units even if you start off with one "Mini LFE" with both costing approx $230. Thats my advice than getting a Gamer or this Concert package as the amplifier they use isn't as good neither.

However I'd consider other options too from Aura or Clarke Tactile shown/discussed on other threads.

I just recently installed the Buttkicker Gamer 2. And I must say I love it if I planned on doing more than I would do what Mr Latte has said but for the price of the gamer 2 and the size of my rig I think I will be happy. Now I just need to add some isolators to my seat.

Well yes but at a rather limited 40 watts.
While The BKA300-4/NW amplifier will support 75watts for 2 or indeed 4 units.
Worth the extra I'd say.

The problem with ButtKicker Amps is the limitation of only one INPUT. So yes while they can support more than one tactile unit they will only produce multiple amplification of the same channel. That's a MAJOR downside in my experience. So basically you can't have stereo or surround tactile with them.

Therefore using AV Reciever based amplification solution with individual tactile units still has that major advantage of decoding and allowing stereo or indeed surround tactile. That is a whole different experience altogether.

Tactile is a bit like speakers, going from mono to stereo or indeed multichannel produces more involving and entertaining experience.

I know. I thought about that, but for now I'm saving for a multiple monitor setup. BKG2 is good enough.

Its what makes you happy is important.
However dont underestimate what directional or surround tactile can offer over the singular mono experience.

Multiscreen is sweet though.
Even after a couple of months when I go back to trying to play GT5 with one screen it feels terrible having been spoilt by the multiscreen experience. It just changes the enjoyment of the game and of course the immersion so much.

In fact other single screen games now are very restrictive, its left me feeling at some point I have to get into PC again to enjoy multiplatform games in eyefinity.

Same here... been in and out of their site for a couple of days now... the problem is you still have to mount the transducer to the playseat (yes I asked). I emailed them if there's a way to mount that to the playseat, sort of like the kit sold in smoketronics. Here's his reply:

I have not found a great way to 'directly' mount it, but there are other ways. We were actually kicking around the idea of making an adapter at some point, maybe we'll just have push that forward :0)

If you're a handy-type, there's a fairly easy and cheap way to mount the mini to the Playseat. You basically run a 2x6 board underneath the seat, attaching either end to the sheet metal sides. Then mount the mini BK to the 2x6 upside-down, so that all three holes are running vertically. Doing this will require you to pre-drill holes in the sheet metal sides before you put the board in place. Also, you'll want to make sure there's a little bit of clearance above the board as the seat sags a bit when you sit in it.

You can pick up a scrap piece of 2x6 for about a buck at a Home Depot, and they'll even cut it to size for you for free. I'd probably paint the board black for aesthetics.

It comes with the bar that slides in between the slit on the base of the transducer, so no extra work for you.

Initially they cost the same but you end up saving $30 with the BK-SK in buttkickergear because of the spring sale discount. So $30 to avoid manually modding your playseat... Totally up to you. Me... For one thing, I don't have it yet LMAO! Should get it next week with my T500... SWEET!!! I'm also a bit lazy... maybe after seeing a pic or vid of someone who has done it then I might give it a shot... Oh yeah, plus the fact that I'm DEAD BROKE. So yeah... in a few months

Well wood and a few screws are cheap. Seems like it would just require some drilling and screwing. Idk though I don't have a playseat. I built my own simul8r pvc rig. XD

I wish I knew or had the time to make my own rig, would've been a hell of a lot cheaper! Not sure though if the vibration would be good if the transducer is mounted on wood instead of a metal plate.

Anyone can make their own rig with basic metal pvc or woodworking skills. For mine all I had to was cut pipe and glue it. It was easy.

Regarding the transducer I think it shouldn't matter. From what i've read they are pretty powerful.

I am wondering if with the way I am connected now (red RCA solo BKG2) if I connect to the white RCA (with the additional unit) is that going to give me better right left bass? Or am I getting the same effect with the single unit and adding another is just going to give me more shake? Basicly is there a left and right with the red and white RCA? Because it does seem that I am not getting any response from some of the left handed rumble strips. I know you have told me in the past what to do as far as better tacticle immersion, but this route just seems to be better in terms of understanding.

I don't know your current audio setup, but basically from your PS3 (multichannel out/component/RCA), TV, or A/V receiver stereo outputs connect the BK2 to the red and white for left/right stereo output. If you connect the red or white RCA (or both) from your LFE/Subwoofer output then both your BK2's will activate at the same time! I hope this helps?

Basically what he states in the letter is the best way to mount the transducer, I mounted my BK Advance transducer under my seat and it provided the best "feel" than placing it on the side or under a leg of my gaming chair. The transducer can make a little metallic noise when they are activating, with them under the chair you don't notice them as the sound is nearly non existant with it mounted in that configuration.

It's a real kick in the pants, especially with it mounted on the bottom of the seat. I also have two Clarke Tactile's mounted in each of the arms of my chair connected to the left/right channels for more immersion. I have been inspired by Mr.Latte 👍

For a Playseat I would recommend cutting a square board to the size of the seat base that can bolt to the top of the Plaseat supports. It would be best to use rubber isolators however. Either Buttkickers own or look on ebay.

The Buttkicker can be mounted to the board but Id recommend you get some cheap sponge/rubber material. I found cheap laptop covers in a £1 discount store that were ideal to cut and use. These can help cushion the buttkicker and reduce vibrations than say directly mounting to the wood.

Enjoy your first experience of tactile and look forward to one day encouraging you to delve deeper.
