Buttons not working in gt6 menus

So I've tried with both my DFGT and my Dualshock 3; the only way for me to progress in any menu in gt6 is to hit the playstation button twice then it proceeds, otherwise the 4 ps buttons (x, square, o, triangle) don't do anything. The pedals don't do anything in the menus, but every other button does respond, and the buttons work in the ps3 menus, just not in gt6. Has anybody else encountered this or have a fix?

edit, pedals weren't plugged in, that was the problem. i'm an idiot.
