Thanks, bird2rock - actually, we already live here - but it'll be nice to call somewhere home (even if it is actually the banks!).

Nice - got some shots of the place from the web ad. Note that the nice things in there are other people's stuff (much nicer than our crap).

Well, for the amount of money we paid for it, it would bloody well want to be!

You can live in the shed - uh, if there's a strong wind, you might want to wear a helmet....

YES....

Homer : Well, good luck finding it, because I'm going to take the numbers off tonight!
Manager : Well, we'll look for the house with no numbers.
Homer : Then I'll take off the numbers on my neighbor's house.
Manager : So, well then we'll look for the house next to the house with no numbers.

Wow nice place. Maybe you can get one of Werner's designs and build a cockpit for your PS2.

Hey, if it makes you any less flipped out about it, I have a friend who always highly espouces buying a house. Besides all the other benefits, as he puts it, it "makes inflation your friend."

Sertsa, you're very right, especially in Sydney. The housing market here has returned 10% since WW2. That's a very handy tax free return. My concern lies not so much with that (although it is an ohmygawd amount of money), but that something will go wrong with the settlement process. Just being pessimistic! :)

Do you like the swing and cubby house in the yard? There's also a swing and sandpit.

We don't have kids - we're planning not to have kids.

The cats will be pleased.

Great house, vat_man! I have a feeling everything will go smoothly for you from here on out - and then you can kick back and relax! :) Speaking of relaxing...broadband is available in the area, isn't it?

Yes - with the competition - which is fine, because their broadband is better!

Once you have broadband, you can't go back to dial-up.

Oh yeah - thanks for the response, guys. It's been great.

Man, your house looks fantastic! Very envious.

On the property return thing, we moved into our house in May 2001. There's another house, same configuration, but in a less-desirable location on the street (our house is kinda hidden away, theirs is right out in the exposed open), and their initial price is 28% higher than the one for our house.

It's some return on investment!

Plus, of course, a chunk of the money you would be paying to the landlord you're now paying to yourself, which is nice!
