I don't really know where to ask so I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out. I'm hoping to get a new computer but my research and the spec options off Dell are giving me some problems.
Intel Core i7 Processor 920
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64Bit
Memory 8192MB (4x1024,2x2048) 1067MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
From what I've read, and from what's offered on other competing sites, I've always seen DDR3 being used in triple channel mode. Initially I was only looking for 6GB, but when the option for 8GB was there I couldn't help but think why not. My question is whether there's a difference between dual and triple channel. It just seems odd that everyone else seems to be using triple channel and not even offering an 8GB option (and in most cases jumping straight to 12GB).
Sorry about poor formatting of the specs (and if needed I can add other parts of the spec if it helps). There's only a £40 difference in price but I'd rather not spend it if it doesn't make much difference.
Thanks in advance, Pyrelli
