buying a steering wheel, need advice

i guess I should have made this which would you rather have

driving force or driving force gt, as they are the only 2 in my budget

You really can't go wrong with the Driving Force GT. I'm not a huge fan of the pedals (to which there are modifications) and the sequential shifter is kind of cheap. But everything else (sans clutch) is quality. Differences between the DFPro and DFGT are minimal but you may as well pick up a new DFGT with the larger wheel diameter and iPod style setting controller.

Get DFGT, but if you wait and save more you will be happier with a G27; or other more expensive wheel.

And then you'll want a race seat...

and so on :)

on gt4 I had the driving force, about the 5th time i used it something shorted out and it stopped working. I liked it alot, although it seems that the driveing force gt is the same thing.

In your guys opinions is there any reason to pay the extra $50 for the gt ? is there any features that are missing on the driving force version ? If you can map the race adjusts buttons to other buttons such as triange or X then I don't see the need for the red knob

The DFGT is slightly larger, which to me is a plus. It also has a better gear system making it turn with much less effort and more smoothly than the DF, and it's a tad less noisy. The race adjusts aren't exclusive to the wheel like you said but the controls are a plus. :) All in all it's a great buy. I really love mine!

I have the DFGT and just can not get on with it also tried the 27 as well but always go back to my PS3 Duel shock pad, using a wheel if you have always been use to a controller will take some time.

i recall the driving force to have a lot of resistance when counter steering or turning abruptly. It was also loud. Are these traits a universal opinion on the driving force?

Anyone have experience in the fanatec 911 Porsche wheels ? Found one for $159 which isn't bending my price point too far and should be considered

so I'm looking at picking up a steering wheel for gt5.
I have $90 or so $$ on my amazon gift card to go towards this, so I will be picking it up from their site most likely

I have $150.00 (us) to spend total, which one would you get and why?

I have a g27 that I'm waiting on Logitech to send back to me. While waiting I picked up a driving force gt and aside from the pedals and noise level, I kinda like it better to be honest. It's very convenient to have all the buttons on the wheel and the adjustment knob is very cool. I do miss the clutch and H pattern shifter but for half the price the dfgt is a much better value. If $150 is you budget, get the dfgt and don't look back. All that you'll need is a pedal modification and you'll have a very nice setup.

interesting thoughts kila, I have never used a g25/27.
Does the clutch function like a real clutch ? or does it function like pushing a button to change gears ? kinda like the idea of a regular gear pattern.
