Buying uninstallable parts?

I was knockin around the tuning shop today and while not paying attention managed to buy a supercharger that cannot be installed on that particular car.

It says underneath "items owned = 1" so I tried installing a supercharger on another car that needed one but it seemed to require buying another supercharger (I was hoping it would let me install the first one bought).

Anyone know if the (17,500cr/Supercharger) is now in limbo or is there a way to use it? I know it was my stupidity that bought it in the first place but why are you allowed buy stuff for a car and not be able to use it?

goto your GT life main screen then go into the Items screen (make sure your in the car you want the part on) and just install from there, this is also how you gift parts to other players or friends online.

Yeah I have a few parts in my items tab that I purchased on accident and I have tried to install them on numerous cars and the game would not let me.
 
If you have already installed the turbos the game wont let you install the supercharger as well - you need to uninstall the turbo to use it

Aha! Hadn't thought to have a look in the items tab, you'd imagine they'd let you install available parts in the shop without having to purchase another one. Have the rogue supercharger installed in my SLS AMG'10. Thanks for the help.

Kudos for the extra info too folks.
