well, as I sit writing to you I have had all four of my widom teeth extracted. Not 1 and a 1/2s an hour ago. I still can't feel my tongue or lower jaw for the most part. but they're gone and will be giving me no more trouble.

I also have a little bottle of Percocet on the kitchen counter in case the pain starts to creep up a bit on me. :knockout:

I had two taken out from one side then a couple of weeks later the two from the other.

Going back the second time was the worst as i knew what i was letting myself in for.

Hearing the dentist say "ooops, bugger!" after hearing a sharp cracking noise was one of the worst moments of my life.

I wish i'd had the lot out in one go like you did.

Ugh...sorry to hear it. :nervous: I had general anesthisia. I'm glad of it, too. I just didn't want to be aware of anything during the process.

It worked, too, The last thing I remember is the anesthisiologist saying is,"OK, the medecine's coming now..." [black] I don't even remember feeling sleepy/dizzy, nothing.

i need to get all 4 of mine out too. i think im getting them out on christmas break. i hope the pain doesnt last too long, because i dont want it to ruin my vacation.

i have the option of general anesthisia or just novicane. i think ill go anesthisia :P

Yeah that would be far and away the best way of doing it. They just pumped me full of novacaine and something or other that made me feel sleepy / drunk / spaced out / giggly / wierd....

I still remember my mate Stevie handing me a big bar of Cadburys whole nut, hazelnut chocolate. I had to suck the chocolate off and spit out the nuts!

i had all of my wisdom teeth removed under anaesthetic too, definately the best way!! I remember starting college 2 days after looking like a chipmunk - with a swollen face; i got some pretty weird looks that day!!
The pain doesn't last to long as long as you use the mouthwash the hosptial/dentist provided you with' to prevent infection. Also gargling with dissolvable paracetamol or asprin can help, but don't do it more than once every 4 hours!!!

Oh yeah i forgot to mention - Bird is a fully qualified nurse.

Which means when i get ill i get no sympathy whatsoever and graphic descriptions of what's going to happen to me next.

who are you kidding, you couldn't handle me telling you the graphic stuff, you would pass out!!! Most guy's would love their own private nurse ;)

You used to pull peoples eyes out for a living..... not many men would want to put up with the descriptions!

Bird was a theatre nurse in opthalmics, which is the eye department.

She was some sort of operations nurse... But she's right I can't listen to the descriptions of what she got up to makes me feel sick. So i tease her and stuff about it.

i am a qualified theatre nurse, and the last theatres i worked in before living with slip was opthalmics we didn't pull peoples eyes out, but restored their sight 99%of the time by removing cataracts and other stuff!!! the hospital i worked for were regional specialists in opthalmics and yes very occassionally we had to remove an eye - it was either that or they would die of cancer!!

Wow, only 1.5 hours ago? I'm amazed you were able to type all that with out a mistake:D

Actually, bird, I was given no mouthwash. In fact, I was instructed not to rinse for a full 24 hours (to promote clotting, I assume).

I have no swelling right now other than where I have the cotton. One of the wounds opened up a bit while I was sleeping - the lower right, which was the most impacted. There's a dull ache in that area, but not worse than when the tooth was still in and giving me trouble.

Funny thing about drugs and me. I was a touch groggy for an hour so after anesthisia, not incoherent or anything. I want to say that they used Sodium Pentathol, but I'm not sure. The Percocet didn't even take me out - I've been napping most of the day, but nothing heavy. I must have a high resistance to medication. I have to take a double-dose of extra-strength acetominaphen when I have a headache or it won't do squat. :thatsodd:

I think I'll heat up some soup... I haven't eaten all day. :lick:

Glad to hear it went so smooth for you. It's been 3 weeks since I had one lower 3rd molar pulled and am still experiencing numbness from nerve damage. Evidently the root was hooked into the nerve running through my jawbone. I go back Thursday to have the other lower 3rd molar removed. It looks like the root is fused in that one so hopefully things will work out better. It's not cool having to wait months and months just to know what your face will feel like for the rest of your life.

I'm gonna get mine taken out. My left side has come through but my right side is half impacted facing straight up. Doc said he can take em out on friday i be back in school on monday. Just gotta get $2200 for the operation. He said it prolly wouldn't take 45 mins to an hour. I chose to just have it where they numb me. I don't like being put to sleep if I don't have to. He said I can bring a CD player so I'll take it and jam to some tunes.

Glad your doing good risingson77.

That first night's a tough one.

I had mine out in the dentist chair when I was 19 - if I had to do it again I'd get it done under a general.

Once you're over the first night you're fine.

I got these dull vague aches in my jaw before I had them out, but they vanished once I got them out.

I had my tonsils out under aneathesia (spelling??) I woke up crying for some reason.... But it was such a nice feeling when your awake and you can hear voices but your too tired to move...pure bliss :)

That's exactly why I had mine removed...I had dull, vague jaw aches that were getting less dull and vague. I also hope that ahving the impacted teeth will take some pressure off of my eustacian tubes thusly opening my ears a bit. We'll see.

The first night was tough...I don't think I slept more than two and a half hours in a row. That, and I developed a pounding headache and had a bit of nausea this morning. I feel OK now, though. Prob'ly just swallowed a little too much blood, that's all. :ill:

I'll be interested to hear how your extraction goes, Warped. I know I was happy they put me under general anesthisia - I mean, it's not like you'd feel pain under local, but I didn't even wan't to be aware of what was going on. Good luck!
