Anyone else getting this? Did you know they are making it a lot like the Battlefield 2 gameplay including vehicles and even a mode similar to conquest!! 24 People online too! I will be buying a copy for me and one for Heather. You even get to choose different soldiers like in BF2.

Well, I don't think the multiplayer on this will as good as BF2. COD2 multiplayer was "kill as many enemies as possible". Even though this was slightly true in BF2, you had to capture flags or else you'd eventually lose.

But nonetheless I'm looking forward to this.

You have to capture flags in COD3 too just like BF2. There is a mode very similar to conquest mode in BF2. :sly: Plus 24 online and with vehicles and you choose different soldiers every time you die. It might not be as good but it sounds like the next best thing to BF2.
 
I fell in love with COD2 pretty easily when it first debuted on the 360 (not to mention the fun I had with COD:BR1 on XBOX), so its a pretty fair guess that I will atleast rent the game, if not, outright buy it. But with Gears of War and Guitar Hero II comming out on the same day, COD3 sits in third in my "most wanted" list so far this year... Maybe for Christmas?

I just wish you could occasionally play the campaign mode as the Nazis. Maybe do the early years of the war where you tear into Poland, France, etc. Might be fun, but I doubt it will happen.

BTW: I've heard that this may be the last COD game, any truth to that? Why haven't they done the pacific theatre yet?

The COD series will be moving to modern warfare, so you could see the Gulf war version of COD in the future.

The problem is, we haven't had a "glorious" war since the end of WWII. Sure, the first Gulf War was a bit of a war like what would be needed, but I'm a bit uncertain of that actually being something worth covering.

I'm sure they are going to steer clear of Vietnam and the current Iraq situation...

Maybe they should do the American Civil War? Hell, lets do the War of 1812!(lol)
 
Maybe it will be a mix of wars even, including the Falklands War.
 
I just pre-ordered a copy of this for Heather and a copy for myself. The next couple weeks are gonig to be so exciting. A lot of great games coming out!! I am taking quite a few days off paid. :sly:
 
It's a shame this will not be coming out on the PC, but I am getting this one.
 
This looks better than I had hoped, the multiplayer sounds quite nice. I've got a coupon for a discount on any game at Circuit City, maybe this would be a good use for it. :)
 
I am yet to try the online mode, but the single player is top notch, it even beats GRAW for being more intense with action, sounds and music.
 
This game is a huge disappointment in almost every aspect. I bought COD3 last wednesday and have only been able to get into 2 ranked online matches. WTF! People online are complaining everywhere non stop about how you cant join ranked games.
I did play a few unranked matches and it was fun. But not as fun as Battlefield 2. It could be fun but they really need to fix a lot of problems with COD3. Get the ranked rooms working would be a good start. Spawn killers and the friggin snipers everywhere make it very frustrating. So at this point in time I am extremely disappointed with COD3. I might even sell Heathers copy since it looks like we wont be able to play ranked matches together.
 
I've never tried to go online myself, but my brother has been having the same problems being able to join a Ranked Match. He just gave up in the end...

Playing the Single Player myself, I'd say it's not quite as good as the second one. It has better graphics and a lot more action, but some strange bugs appear here and there. Your fellow soldiers occasionally disappear out of no where, and once none of them would even help me after I was reloaded at a checkpoint after dieing. That was pretty hard on Veteran... Plus, I don't think it quite creates the atmosphere the second one had.

Other than that, it's still great fun and will be quite a challenge to complete.
 
We decided to just trade in Heathers copy of COD3 today. Since we cant play ranked matches online there is no sense in keeping the game. It just has way too many issues anyway. I will keep mine for now and hope they patch the problems. If not then I will get rid of mine too.

I need CoD3. I downloaded the CoD2 demo and kept playing it over and over. I might ask for this on christmas, cause I'm getting broke.

I would highly suggest you rent it first. Read through some of these replies and you will see COD3 has major online and offline problems.
 
Infinity Ward are probably the better developers. Every odd number is a Treyarch game and every even number is an IW game. Im still getting COD3. Not listening to the opinions of others, I'll make my own decision with this game
 
Got my Asian copy today, so far I love it. The Single player campaign seems to be very intense and there is really a lot of action !

I only played one map online so far, as long as it works I don't care if ranked or not...
 
I started playing this again. I tried the online ranked and it STILL doesnt work at all. Froze my brand new 360 3 times in a row so I gave up and played the single player instead.

Didn't try ranked yet ( as you alls aid that I can't play with friends then ) so I don't know if it works for me, but honestly, the player matches are just prefect for me, no need for a rank tbh....

Although it shouldn't freeze of course ;)

Well the achievements and rank do give you something to look forward to. A reward for playing. And if you play ranked matches you are usually teamed up with people of your rank. Say your a rank 20 you will probably be playing with rank 20s. If you play unranked you could be with anyone including people ranked over 50. Plus most people that play unranked matches dont work together as a team because they have nothing to lose.
 
Yeah, that makes alot of sense actually. Too bad about the no friends and lobbys etc. would of been better. What are the vehicles etc like. I've heard theres alot of spawn camping

The vehicles are ok. They are older but still fun. The game is fast paced online. Faster than BF2 and around the same speed as Halo 2. Yes the spawn camping really sucks since you cant see where you got shot from like in BF2. I have played several unranked games but just cant get into this game yet. The single player is a lot like CO2 and the graphics are about the same. I am glad we sold Heathers copy right away. I kept mine for the single player and I am hoping some day they will get the ranked matches fixed.

That is certainly right, but I can't confirm that players don't work together in unranked games, they do.

But isn't that what we want ? So you always have good and bad players, just like in real life where there are better soldiers and not so good ones...

Play a few more online unranked games with some friends... it's a lot of fun actually...

Thats the beauty of the Halo 2 online matchmaking. I can be a level 2 and Heather can be level 20 as an example. It will match everything in between to make the teams as balanced as possible. There really is no better matchmaking set up on any gaming system that tops Halo 2. I am no Halo 2 fanboy but that system works and it works real well. Thats what kept us playing it for almost 2 years straight. We usually stay around 18-22 and thats usually how we are teamed up against other people. It makes the games soo fun and we are in almost instantly. We dont care about making our rank go real high we just like close balanced games. I could care less if we were still level 2. At least we would be teamed up with level 2 players.
I just prefer knowing there is something to see for all the games I play. Thats another nice thing about achievements. They give you goals to strive towards. I have had some fun unranked games in COD3 but when they are done they are nothing but a memory. I have also had some really rough matches in COD3 where the other team had at least 5-6 snipers, extremely advanced players, and just camped and ruined the game. Severly unbalanced.
Regardless I try to have fun with any game I play. I will just have less fun with games that dont allow friends into ranked games.
