You can't trade or borrow them. If you wanted to do that seasonal that you can use them in, you should have downloaded GT:A

I set mine to borrow and was able to borrow it, on my second account.
It may be that if you have done GTAcademy you can borrow.
Send me FR, fazzz, i will be on later and you can try and see if you can borrow it.

The only things you can tune on the Leaf are the suspension and weight reduction.Everything else is fixed, other than TCS etc.
Make sure you use Sports Medium for the race.
