Can I Fit Gibson/Other Pickups To My Strat?

I know, it sounds stupid...
...but i cant afford a gibson/epiphone right now and ive grown to hate the sound of my encore Strat and i love the razor sharp sounds from a gibson. I want a more "beefy" sound but all i realy get are high pitched screeches or blunt-sounding moans out of it.
I dont know if fitting different pickups will make a difference but anything that will help.
And if theres a spesific type of pickup, what is it?
 
You need to have a slot big enough for a humbucker to fit one in there. if you have a strat with a humbucker slot, then it would be no problem.
 
i dont think its big enough, i just have single-coil pickups
Can it be made bigger or wold that mean its impossible?
 
You will need to cut bigger slots, & also make sure that the strat wiring can be hooked up to the new pickups.

Why do you want to fit Gibson pickups in a Strat?
 
Or EMG SA's, they've got great tone.
 
Texas Specials sound great in a Strat in my opinion. Tone is so subjective though that I am not about to say "this is what you want", but I do know a few guitar players that really dig the Texas specials.

How does it sound going through the neck pickup? My Strat sounded much warmer and beefy. You could also play with your amp settings and see what you like. Playing with the knobs on your amp adds tons of versatility in your sound.
 
Try heavier gauge strings too, and perhaps raising the action a little.

Man, ive tryed so many gauge strings that the heavier ones started pulling up my whammy bar. so much so that it wouldnt go down again so i had to get it locked. That was a pain in the ass for me!

I wouldnt realy mind cutting holes in it as long as there done well. i wouldnt fit anything myself, id get a professional or someone with more knowledge to carry out the work.
I am a huge gibson fanatic and i love that sound out of them. I mean, you could get the same sound out of other pickups but i dont realy know what ones, thats why i thought id ask.

A while ago i tried that and turned up the gain a lot and it sounded a bit better. but not much or very little.

This has cleared it up a lot for me!

Chisel out the single coil slot to fit a humbucker. This humbucker... (it's warm, fat and sweet with medium output for all types of music styles)... http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/vintage/59_model_sh1_an/

It'll make your guitar sound more like a Gibson, but not exactly. If you want a Gibson sound, go buy a Gibson. An SG can be found pretty cheap and have the classic Gibson sound.
