Can I start the game with a gift car from a friend? or purchasing new car a req?

I've read you NEED to purchase a car to start playing GT life portion of the game and do license test and race, but!...

I was wondering if it is possible for my friend to gift me a car (ex. Honda S2000 which you can't afford at the beginning of the game) so I don't have to waste any money on a car that I probably won't drive in the long run or even keep it in the garage

I started playing on my birthday, so it gifted me a free car for my birthday.

that was enough for me to start doing licence tests etc.

r_master... Yes, you can start playing gt life with a gifted car instead of hitting the used car dealership.

Interesting, I have the chromeline cars and it still made me buy a car before I could do anything.
