wow.....nice vid, i think i could beat his time.....i'm familiar with the pescarolo, i used to drive it a lot

i got 9:09:654 with the Pescarolo PS 794hp/900kg/R5 tyres in arcade mode (and this was the first time i raced with MT :))
 
I'm going to try on all five compounds. I love running La Sarthe in a proper LMP and this just gives me a better excuse.

Im not sure which Pescarolo you mean. Heres a time I did with the C60 for my Le Sarthe Time Attack

3'05.806 Pescarolo Courage C60 East

That was done in GT Mode on R5s with all aids turned off.

My understanding was Loebies car had 805bhp. That, I couldn't get with the Pesca in Arcade so I'm assuming that time (if in the production version of GT4) was done in GT Mode with an oil change. He was probably running at the softest, a racing medium. A tire Loebie would probably be some-what familiar with. The racing soft and super soft, based on their performance and life span, are more like those special qualifying tires the IMSA Camel GTP's used to use. They'd last you three laps but could handle the unrestricted GTP qualifying set-ups, and at that push the limits of adhesion.

Or, he bought the car in GT Mode, and therefore unlocked it for Arcade...

I've bolded the important bit - if you watch the vid there are a few pointers that suggest he was playing GT-HD. Near the beginning "GT4 online" is mentioned in english, and towards the end Loeb talks about the "new Playstation" as if that is what he had just been using. There was something else I noticed as well, but it's slipped my mind and there's a lot of buffering on the vid for me so I'm not about to watch it again ;).

Anyway, as m.piedgros said, it's not a production version of GT4.

Nevertheless, kudos to all on your times - way ahead of what I could do 👍

OK, Im still a little confused on how and why he got that horsepower out of that car. So now I want to know what the close you can get to the 805 without going over. If its about 2-3hp, dont worry about it.
 
I notice George. has a small difference in horsepower to me (796 to my 794). Perhaps a difference between PAL and NTSC versions of these cars? Interested to see the splits on that lap.

Anyhow, for the NTSC version, the power increments go like this in regards to reaching 805hp with the C60 Pescarolo:

+1% = 802hp
+2% = 810hp

You can hit exactly 805hp with the C60 Courage at +2% power in Arcade Mode. The weight remains 900kg @ 0%.

Edit: Attempted the combo with the Courage @ 805hp/900kg and achieved a time of 3'03.483 in about ten laps. The handling characteristics on Courage feel much more neutral in comparison to the Percarolo which has a fairly understeer-based setup.
 
If you want to see how good you really are, get the car to around 550hp (if possible) and 935kg on Super-Hard tires. Then see if you can do a 3'25ish. This year in quali, on those approximate specs, the Pesca's were doing 3'32.xxx's. Considering GT4 doesn't add driver weight and conditions are darn near ideal you should be able to go faster.
