Ok, I haven't played for ages!! PS3 and G27 are packed away in a cupboard and have been for some time.

When the game first came out, a myself and a group of friends all bought it. We had spent countless hours hot lapping in Forza, going back and forth beating each others times.

Is it possible to see a friends best lap on a given track with a given car? Does this exist yet?

Forgive me if I sound facetious.
 
sadly no.
but what me and buddies do is use google docs and all of us can edit the times set in there
its kind of hard to explain but well worth doing it and making leaderboards

If you mean leaderboards, no. But if you and your friends are in a lobby and are using the same car I believe the fastest lap time would be displayed, that's probably the best you're going to get now.
 
There was a great feature in TT where one could save a ghost replay to USB and then upload it onto a friends PS2 where it could be raced in real time. I think online pushed this feature out because it is kind of obsolete compared to real competition.

I remembered you made a thread about that lol. But anyway, no, it doesn't exist yet, unfortunately, and disappointingly. I wonder why PD didn't implemented that feature, if it is one.. Seems hot-lapping is one the most popular activities to do on GT5.. And an important element to have in a racing/driving game..
 
Will the patch achieve this now? Basic time trials?

I saw a Quicklook for Forza at giantbomb, and they had this rival mode which looked awesome.

You can only do it in the seasonal events time trials. It would be nice if they incorporated it to all the courses in arcade and/or practice mode. Mind they would need to set variables for each car, each set of tyres and if the car is in stock form or if it is tuned which is a huge amount of leaderboards to set up on the servers
 
yeah the online time trials let you compare directly to your friends times, its cool , i hope we get it for all races

Can I have your G27 then?
 
Actually guys, it does exist. Go into Practice mode in GTLife and your laps should show up on your friend's practice modes. I've seen this myself. Is set some laps on Le Sarthe and I got off, my brother got on, and my lap times with the car that was driven was on the list in his game. Though, it does not show who had done said laptime.

This only shows other lap times on the same console. Practice mode is not online.

To the OP, I'm sorry, but if that stupid feature is why you aren't playing GT, then you really aren't into racing. Get your friends online and race together or don't.

It's the reason I don't play it now.

I sunk a cool hundred odd hours into it, both Aspec, Bspec and Multi - I just wish it had a bit more longevity (which I'm sure it does for some).

Still, it's a pretty glaring missing feature for an online motorsport game.

They had it for the prologue right?
