Can you duplicate paint chips from painted cars?

Hi all, I couldn't find this answered anywhere... but I was wondering, if I use a matte or chrome paint on a car & trade the car to myself, will it give me another paint chip? Or does it not work b/c it's not the cars original color?

I was curious if anyone has tried this because I'm feeling hesitant about using my rare paint chips w/o the possibility of ever getting another one.

Because you can gift paint chips you can dupe them the regular way.

Paint chips can be found by clicking the "items" button at the GT Home menu.

Backup main game save
From main account, load GT5 and gift the paint chips to your sub-account
Restore main game save
Log onto your sub-account, load GT5, and gift those paint chips back to your main account

Job done. I do a similar trick with any car I buy now, preserving my 20,000,000 credits.
 
Wont work for me any more.Can gift but when i go to gift back to myslef they do not appear.patch might have changed rules...anyone??

Sounds like you're not restoring your savegame from the USB drive straight after the send
Still working fine for me, and to double the amount of chips you can copy, also backup your second account on a second USB, and restore that one too, then after a while you can stock up your second account with all rare paints and send them to yourself as required.
 
Yeh my fault,i wasnt doing it properly.I kept getting a media server error with a numbered code.
I will do what you speak of.Thanks
