Can you really drift in GT1?

I am kind of being doubtful if drift can really be performed in GT1. I have been practicing every night to drift FR cars for a month now, and still am unable to perfect it. I am kind of hooked to the anime' Initial D so I wanted to try it in the game GT1.

The cars that I tried drifting are AE86 TRUENO (NA), FDRX7 A SPEC (Turbo) and FCRX7 GTX (Turbo).

Any settings in particular that I need to be done to these cars for me to be able to drift effectively? Also, am I correct to fit in 'Hard' tires (both front and rear) to be able to drift?

Does a stock Viper not fit your definition of drifting?

Perhaps try stock tires.

Does it look like a drift demo to you, or not?
