Can you send cars when the other account is offline

I guys, I want to send a car from one of my acounts to another however my problem is that obviously i can only have one account on at a time however when I try to send myself the car it can't find any acounts. It is connected to the internet since I can play online however It just sits there searching for an acount to send too.

Any help please.

And if the other acount has to be online is it possible if someone could please do me a reallly big favour, if I send you the car log on to my other acount and then you send the car on.
(the car in question is a sauber c9)

you should be able to, just put it on the car you want and hit triangle scroll down to give to friend and send it, as long as you havent sent more than one car from that account to the other today it should work. if not i could help you out. psn is KoV_demon
 
Yeah, you can.

The other person(or yourself) will receive the car right when they are in the GT Mode main menu. There should be a red star next to the Community tab on the left.
 
Thanks for the offer guys, I tried using the triangle shortcut instead of going into the car menu, it then found my other acount however then it said upload failed, I went onto online lobby to check it was connected it was, tried again and it sent.

Hi everyone. I'm having a similar problem. When I try to send a car to my other account, all my other friends show up, but not my other account. Could this have something to do with the fact that this account is a subaccount of a main one? Or should that not matter?
 
Sometimes it works better when you go to 'Community', tap on the friend you want to Gift the car to, then hit the 'Gift' button and choose Garage. Best method as far as most of the forum members have mentioned before
 
My other account doesn't even show up in the community tab. I'm going to see if I can send from the other account to this one. If that works then I might have an idea of what's going on.
Edit: Think I solved it. Hadn't yet agreed to the online interactions thing in my other account. Hopefully it will work now.
