Can you still back up your saved data after the new update?

I am wondering if when you gift a car can you still backup your saved data and reload it after sending the car?

I understand that you can no longer send cars over 1 million credits and you can only send once per ps3. But I am unclear on backing up your data and reloading it.

I did it with paint, and everything worked fine.
