Can you still get log-in bonus without installing 1.03?

I do not really want to bother using 1.03 right now because of the messed up timed races (sometimes erroneously called 'endurance' races). Is it possible to deny the download and still be online with the game in order to get the log-in bonus for career races? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

As far as I know, no. When you stay signed out of PSN, you don't log in and therefore, counts you as offline.
