Hey people, earnt some big money today in the seasonal events...

I RM'd my 05 Evo, then I added all the top upgrades, but Ive seen a few vids and other peoples Evo's sound so much more whiny (Turbo whine yeh?)

Am I missing something?

Cheers :)

Usually when you buy parts THEN RM THEM it removes parts, go to that particular cars settings and make sure they are all put back on, other then that if you want "whine" try the low range or mid range turbo, when you get into the high RPM's (when the turbo is past its peak output) it whines harder! 👍

What you mean, the 'whine' sound, is what the custom transmission sound in GT5 is. Most people say it sounds like straight cut gears. I'm not sure but either the shorter you set the gears the louder it becomes or the other way around.

Try this; turn your speakers up a bit, use a stock car (take a cheap one if you're still a beginner or use the Toyota 86GT you got as gift), take it on track and drive it for a minute. Now go to tuning settings and add a gearbox (the 5/6 gear short boxes have the same whine). Go on track again and compare the sound.

Thank you, I'll have a tinker :)

Just tried adjusting the transmission and all three turbos, but my Evo still doesn't whine...

That's really weird... the transmission whine should be there, unless it is not hearable due to your speaker setup or something.
Maybe someone else from the forums can you help you

Just been searching Google, many people were complaining about the loudness of the transmission whine a good while back, maybe it got patched...

The one that really stands out in my mind (because I use it often) is the nuvalari Quattro! That has some serious whine! Moving or not moving.. Just look in "rear view" and rev that beast up!! Also try running your car then watching the replay, it'll sound different then when you actually drive your car!

Possibly this, the shortened gearbox looks the most plausible, as he's hitting the change zone in 6th at around 155mph.

It also sounds like it's an isolated sound, in so much that it's coming from a surround system's centre speaker. This would be closest to the camera that's recording the sound, therefore giving the appearance of being physically louder than it actually is. This channel can also be independently adjusted in volume at the amplifier, and may be set louder than the main channels.
If you're expecting that sort of thing from your regular tv speakers you're out of luck, as most systems will "flatten" the output levels so not to pop those little speakers stuffed in the back of most tv's.

Your "transmission whine" has been heavily reduced in an update, so chances are that those videos were recorded before this update.
