The facilities at the circuit are nearly thirty years out of date. The circuit is built on the former rowing basin of the 1976 Olympic Games, and the pits and paddock haven't been updated since they were moved from L'Epingle to their current location in 1987. The facilities are so poor that every year, a temporary expansion to th paddock has to be built on pontoons that extend out into the St. Lawrence River.
And to do that, they pretty much have to change the island...
It's not that difficult. They just have to dredge up part of the river. It's a fairly straight-forward engineering project.
They did just fine when they upgraded the pits a few years ago. After all, pit lane used to run parallel to the main straight. Now it goes around the opposite side of the pit building and garages.
Other tracks can just get away with a new pit complex. Being on a narrow strip of land between a river and rowing basin/seaway makes it rather more complex and costly.
I'm tired of hearing that. What exactly is the problem?

It is an awesome track (take the Metro to get there 👍), but yes it is quite dated, and could use a 'sprucing up'
The Olympic infrastructure (rowing basin) is almost 35 years old.
Question is would the investment be worth the return?
