Hey guys, you may remember my previous fan-fiction "Kansei". I was starting to think it was going downhill. So, I decided to create a new story, including the same characters, but with a different plot.

CHAPTER 1-Hakone’s Fastest Downhill

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7659860376/

Mt. Hakone, 11:23 PM

On the roads of Mt. Hakone, racers dream to be the fastest. No one has ever achieved this. The roads are tight and twisty, and many end up crashing their cars, but not this guy.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7659851958/

The mighty 180SX has been known as “Hakone’s Fastest Downhill”, tacking each and every corner at breakneck speeds. This 180 has never been defeated. Many have never come close to defeating him. The driver of this very car is none other than Shiro Watanabe.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7659853022/

Shiro’s talent, along with his 180, are considered as the perfect pair, also, the perfect enemy.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7659852778/

Perfect enemy, not only for those who wish to challenge it, but for Shiro himself.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7659852546/

“Shiro is no ordinary person...”

“He and his 180... Have troubled me for quite some time...”

“They must be defeated...”

As a former world record holder in the Downhill Corner Artist Challenge on Hakone in TXRD2, I'm going to have to say good luck.

Hakone can't be replicated in this game, and I wish it was able to be.

Good start, I hope you don't drop this one!

Yeah, I know that feeling. :(

TXRD2 was my favourite of the series.

Thanks! I don't plan to stop on writing. I get better if I keep going.

Hey guys. I know it took long before I could upload this chapter. I apologize. Luckily, the rest of the chapters are already prepared and are ready to be uploaded. I decided I'll upload them maybe next week. Enjoy!

CHAPTER 2-An Old Aquaintance

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708228512/

*sigh* “This is boring. Why did I have to get involved in this?”

Here I am, along with my friend, Daisuke Takayama. I met Daisuke back in elementary. We both had a passion for cars. I loved to race, and he loved to drift.

There’s just one problem...

He’s not good at it...

*sigh*

I got in his car, a Midnight Purple Nissan 350Z. It sure may look good, but it was really uncomfortable. My back was killing me due to the bucket seats that were installed.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708150602/

As we approached the first corner, I was starting to worry. I knew he couldn’t do it. But...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708150352/

“Hey, you made it! Be careful, the four consecutive hairpins are coming up.”

Daisuke lightly tapped the brakes and mashed the throttle, causing the rear end to slide.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708150152/

Not bad, I say. With the second hairpin coming up, he immediately let off the gas and steered going the opposite direction.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708149928/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708149740/

On the small straightaway, he floors it. I could feel the power going to the wheels.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708149540/

These last two hairpins were tricky. The slope was quite steep going down.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708149310/

But Daisuke managed to do it successfully. I was really impressed.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708149094/

“Impressive... You’ve improved quite drastically. Hey, I gotta go.”

Daisuke: “Alright, thanks. I’ll see you.”

I got out of his car and proceeded to march back to my 180. I headed back home. On my way, I noticed a car in my rear view mirror. As it got closer, I noticed it was a Honda S2000 with a wide body kit. It was tempting. I floored it and we ended up racing.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708146358/

I drifted my way through the first corner, enlarging the gap between us.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708167572/

We both approached an uphill slope, and the S2000 was gaining on me.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708167322/

This course had a lot of slopes. As I tackled the downhill areas, my car slowly left him behind.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708166998/

I noticed a few high speed bends were coming up. I kicked the clutch and drifted my way through the turns.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708166788/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708166524/

On the final corner, I finally outran him.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708165524/

I pulled over to the side of the road. The other car did the same. Out came from the S2000 was a man who looked to be in his 40’s.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708165770/

Man: “That was a good race. My name is Sakamoto Takahiro

“Watanabe, Shiro.”

I bowed before him.

Sakamoto: “Please, no need for the formalities. Wait, Watanabe? I heard of you.”

Judging by the look on his face, I could tell he remembers something.

Sakamoto: “Ahh! That’s right! Your father and I were good friends back in the day! It’s too bad he doesn’t race anymore. How is he?”

END OF CHAPTER 2

CHAPTER 3-Goodbye... My 180

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7714616578/

Sakamoto-san still thinks my dad is alive?

I was troubled by this thought... I had to tell him.

“Actually, Sakamoto-san. My father, he’s... gone.”

As I looked at him, I noticed that he had been saddened a bit.

Sakamoto: “I see. That’s too bad. What happened?”

“I... I don’t want to talk about it.”

Sakamoto: “I understand. If it’s alright, I must go.”

I simply nodded at him. He got in his car and left. While I was left in the midst of darkness. Somehow, I felt... abandoned.

For the first time in years, I had realized that my father’s accompaniment... gone.

I got back in my car, crying and sobbing. I couldn’t drive back home like I usually would.

I came back home, realizing that the 180 had suffered quite a lot of damage. From scratches to dents, they were everywhere, just standing in front of my car, realizing that my life was going nowhere.

The title “Hakone’s Fastest Downhill “just wasn’t enough.

I decided it’s time to make a change in my life... a huge one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 months later

News reporter: “We have received reports of a street race just recently. Both cars were wrecked and have caught fire. We now go live at the scene of the crash.”

News reporter #2: “Well, witnesses say that the crash just happened earlier this morning. One car has been said to have flipped over and both have caught fire, specifically, these cars right behind me. A red Honda Civic EG6 and a blue Nissan 180SX were those involved. We still have no signs of both drivers of these vehicles. We are unsure if they survived or if they may have been trapped inside their vehicles. We go back live to the studio.”

News reporter: “Thanks you. In other news...”

I switched off the television and I had remembered just what happened.

I was racing with my old rival, named Junichi Tanaka. We had quite a rivalry in the past, and we decided to end it.

Just as I was turning in for the final corner, Junichi had smashed my rear bumper. The weight of my car had already transferred too late. Result? My car had flipped over. Luckily, I didn’t go past the guardrail, or else I would have been badly injured, or worse...

As my car flipped in the air, Junichi accelerated too much into the corner, his car smashed into a concrete wall, whereas my car rolled next to his car. I was upside down, and the car was on its roof. I immediately got out without any time to inspect myself for injuries. I noticed that my car was dripping fuel.

Junichi ran as far as he could from the wreckage. As for me, I just stood there. In front of my 180 as I watched it burn down. I couldn’t process these things into my mind. I was left blank, without a memory.

I walked back home only to find myself watching the news and that they had already found out.

All those moments... the good, and the bad... gone.

No longer known as “Hakone’s Fastest Downhill”.

“My new life... starts here.”

CHAPTER 4-My New Life...

I have finally processed all these thoughts together. I asked myself, what should I do now?

I went up to my room and browsed the internet for some cars. I found a really nice website filled with tuned cars all over Japan.

Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II (R34)
823 km
Kept in mint condition
800 HP
¥10,000,000

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708146668/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708153068/

"What the hell?! 10 million yen?!"

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX
1,635 km
300 HP
¥3,000,000

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708152732/

I was convinced that the car was pretty good and fits nicely for my budget. But as I clicked for more pictures, I spotted a wreck that the owner was trying to hide. Nice try!

I browsed for more cars, but no hope. I gave up, but as I scrolled once more...

Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II (R32)
264 km
400 HP
¥4,000,000

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708154028/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708153516/

Oh wow! It looks great too!

I called the owner’s number and asked where to find the car. He said he lived in a village in Kyoto.

I picked up my phone and called Daisuke. I had to wait for a minute before he could pick it up.

“Come on. Pick it up!”

Finally, he answers.

Daisuke: “Hello?”

“Hey, it’s me.”

Daisuke: “Oh, hey. I heard about what happened last week. Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Listen. I need you to drive me to Kyoto. I’m buying a new car.”

Daisuke: “Is it as good as your 180?”

“I don’t know. We’ll see.”

I went outside and waited for Daisuke. Minutes later, with me almost falling asleep, Daisuke finally arrives in his 350Z. I hopped in and felt discomfort once again. These bucket seats really piss me off. I knew the trip would be long, so I slept.

Later, I was being shaken. I slowly opened my eyes and Daisuke was trying to wake me up.

Daisuke: “We’re here.”

“Oh...”

I got out of the car and searched the village for the R32. I noticed a man approaching me.

Man: “You must be looking for the car.”

“Yes, could you show me please?”

The man instructed me to follow him. We walked through a number of houses and walked on the streets, since there were no sidewalks. Also, the streets were only fit for one car to pass at a time. We later arrived at a small yet nice house. There it was, sitting in the garage, the R32.

“May I take it for a test drive?”

Man: “Of course.”

The man handed me the keys. I glanced at them and noticed the GT-R keychain. I unlocked the door and got it. Once I started it up, I could hear the monstrous roar of the RB26 engine. A much more menacing tone compared to my old SR20. I proceeded to head at the nearest mountain pass.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708154748/

As I drove, it shot by the corners with incredible speed. Far more superior that my 180. It actually placed a smile on my face. The owner was also impressed.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708154414/

I kept going until we reached the end of the road. I immediately fell in love with the car.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708155106/

“I’ll take it.”

Man: “Splendid! Let’s head back so we handle the transactions.

Back at the man’s home, I spent a few minutes signing papers, the car was finally mine. I got out and started up my new car.

I eventually met up with Daisuke on the expressway. Daisuke immediately floored it and pulled away, but not for long. As I floored it too, I was pushed back to my seat. I overtook him in an instant and he disappeared from my rear view mirror.

Driving this car made me feel... happy...

CHAPTER 5-Gutter Run

I decided to head to the touge with the R32. Driving it just makes me feel calm and relaxed. I don’t care if I lose the next battle, just as long as I’m driving this car.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708164550/

As I drove along, I looked at my rear view and noticed that a car was rushing from behind me.

“What is that?... **** It’s an R32 Touring Car. Looks like it's going to be a battle of the R32's!"

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708164216/

I wondered what a track oriented car would be doing in a place like this.

I decided to mash the throttle, the other car did the same, once he did, he immediately caught up to me.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708163916/

As I tackled the first corner, not only did I increase my exit speed, but also the gap.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708163546/

“Ahh! This thing understeers so much!.”

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708163182/

Approaching the second corner, he was already on my tail.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708162780/

"Damn. He's catching up really fast."

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708161828/

I noticed that my footwork had changed drastically. It’s probably the car.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708161368/

I attempted to use the gutter to my advantage. Luckily, I was able to pull further a bit.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708161014/

As we crossed the bridge, I felt confident. I thought I could win this...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708159946/

Or not... We were taking the turn, side-by-side.

Whenever we’re on open roads, it’s his win.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708159538/

I noticed the next corner had gutters too.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708159228/

I aimed for it and the G-forces were sucking me in. I got close to his rear, hoping I would have to change to pass him.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708158818/

"Come on! Just a little more!"

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708158412/

Unfortunately, up ahead was a huge tunnel. I flicked my headlights on since it was rather dark. I looked back at the road only to have found that he had pulled away from me.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708157434/

*sigh*

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708157176/

“Alright, time to use the gutters again. I hope this helps!"

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708156820/

As I tackled the second to the last corner, my opponent had already entered the final turn.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708156030/

I ended up finishing 2 seconds behind. Not bad, huh?

He had parked alongside the road. He came out and checked on his tires, still wearing his helmet. I decided to approach him.

“Hey, that was a great race back there. My name is Shiro Watanabe.”

I offered my hand, waiting for him to stand up.

He stood up, removed his helmet, and shook my hand. I was completely shocked. It was Takanori Kanonji, one of Japan’s fastest racers.

“Holy ****! You’re Takanori Kanonji!”

It looks like I scared him a bit. It took him a few seconds before he could speak up.

Takanori: “Yeah. Say, how long have you had that R32 of yours?”

He points to my car, with its gray paint shining in all its glory.

“Actually, I bought it yesterday. I came here to give it a practice run.”

Takanori: “Whoa. You have great skill, considering you only got it yesterday.”

“Haha. Thanks.”

We walked to a nearby restaurant. When we got it, he was still wearing his racing suit. Weird. Anyway, we found out we had some things in common. We’re both racers, and both our fathers were legends. He even gave me advice on tuning and driving the R32. As we continued discussing, his phone rang.

Takanori: “Hello? Ben-san? You need me? Right now? Okay. I’ll see you.”

Takanori puts his phone down and returns it in his pocket. He takes a gulp on his drink and stands up from the table.

Takanori: “Sorry. I gotta go. It was nice meeting you.”

CHAPTER 6-Birth Of A New Beginning

A month later, back at the roads of Hakone.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708152052/

A mysterious car rockets past through the corners.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708151868/

Cornering at breakneck speeds, effortlessly.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708151634/

With an exhaust note that roars like a beast within.

A roar that should be feared...

The roar... of the R32 GT-R

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708151442/

The R32 looked different. A better set of tires, to the new GT Wing. This R32 was no longer a regular tuned car.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708151194/

It’s a monster, reborn...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708150880/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could now tackle the corners like never before.

A lot of effort has gone into tuning this thing.

Everything has been stripped to its lightest.
The car drives like a dream...

This car will soon change everything...

CHAPTER 7-Rivalry At Its Limit’s

As I drove along, pushing the car to its limits. I smashed my previous record by a full three seconds.

I felt that the GT-R had already empowered me, but I was able to control it. I felt that I couldn’t settle only in Hakone, but in the whole Kanto region. I wanted to be the best. Just like what my father had reminded me of...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the same time, Junichi Tanaka, along with a few members of his team have gathered.

Team member: “So, I believe Shiro Watanabe is no longer a problem.”

Junichi: “Actually, no. We both survived the crash. Chances are, he’s already found a replacement for his 180.”

Team member: “What about you? Your EG6 was quite a car. It won’t be easy to replace it.”

Junichi: “Come with me.”

Junichi and his team member walk outside and soon arrive at a small garage. With the inside of the garage surrounded by darkness, Junichi flips the light switch. The light focuses on a car.

Team member: “...”

Junichi: “Surprised?”

Team member: “Yeah.”

END OF CHAPTER 7

*Author's note: For those that are confused with this chapter. Junichi Tanaka is Shiro's old rival. He is shown in CHAPTER 3-Goodbye... My 180. Also, you may be wondering why I didn't give the team member a name. Well, that's because he's not an important character. Thanks for reading.*

CHAPTER 8-Junichi’s Weapon

This chapter is explained in Junichi’s point of view.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I decided to hit up Suzuka, since it wasn’t too far. When I got there, it was raining pretty hard. No problem for me though.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708148564/

“Hehe... This NSX.”

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708148354/

“It’s a cornering monster!”

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708148128/

“On the S-curves, this thing performs really well.”

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708147902/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708147372/

Since it’s raining, I guess it would be a great time to do some sliding.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708147112/

Approaching the final bend, I floored it all the way.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/matmedrano/7708146878/

“Our battle...”

“Will be legendary...”

“Not only will I win...”

“But you will also... Die!”

*Author's note: Well, that's all the short chapters done. Final chapter will be posted soon. I'm already halfway done with the sequel. Thanks for reading!*

Here's the second to the last chapter. Sorry that it is quite short and that there are no pictures.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHAPTER 9-Hakone’s Last Call

As I took a deep breath, I prepared myself for what could be... my last race. I got into my car and exited the parking lot. As I got on the road, Junichi was already there at the starting line.

“This is it...”

Junichi: “You ready for this?”

I didn’t respond. Instead, I just waited for a go signal. As a leaf fell down to the ground, both our cars have launched. I took the lead thanks to the all-wheel drive drivetrain.

We had already passed five corners and the race is going quite smooth. Suddenly, I felt a small tap in my rear bumper.

“He’s trying to kill me again...”

I was starting to have a really bad feeling about this... His car is much more balanced and agile. If he wanted to overtake me, he could do it right now.

Up ahead was a straightaway. I floored it all the way and tried my best to outrun his NSX, but it was no use. We were already side by side. Instead of overtaking me, he sideswiped me in an attempt to make fall through the guard rail.

“Bastard.”

As we were approaching the last final corners, Junichi had slowed down.

“Don’t fool me, Junichi. I know all your tricks.”

I turned in and I saw Junichi speeding up behind me.

“****!”

He rammed me from behind and my GT Wing had been thrown. It flew and immediately shattered the NSX’s windshield.

“Ha! Fooled by your own trick!”

“How does his NSX sustain that kind of damage?!”

“Alright, last the last few bends are coming up... I have a plan.”

I noticed Junichi was about to sideswipe me again. I immediately slammed the brakes just in time. Not for Junichi, though.

His car had slammed into the railing. His NSX was completely totalled.

I got out of my car and walked to him. He sat in there, trying to get my sympathy.

Junichi: “I’m sorry.”

“You really think that’s going to change it? After all those years, all you cared about was winning. You would do anything just to end up on top. You would even kill your opponents during the race. I’ll say this right here, right now... you’re nothing but a piece of ****.”

I walked back to my car and drove off... not aware of where I would end up...

CHAPTER 10-Conclusion

A year later, there were no signs of Junichi anywhere. It’s as if he was wiped off the face of the earth. Daisuke had taken off with his drifting career, and what happened to me?

Well, I moved to another side of town near Mt. Eiger. I heard that the mountain passes there are pretty cool and that most experienced racers gather there to race. It was also time to follow my father’s footsteps and take things to a whole new level. It was time to change my life... for the better.

THE END

Well guys, that's the end. The next book is titled "R". It's the book where I actually put all my effort, since I was on a school break when I wrote it. So I hope you guys enjoyed! Thanks for reading!

I am a bit late on this, and I do not mean to bump an old thread, but it is quite good. I'm just curious.. have I inspired you in anyway? It all seems very reminiscent..
