Does anyone know why the option to use 7.1 surround is not able to be highlighted/accessed in the game? When I try, it only gives me the option to use 5.1 surround mode. Keep in mind I am using a straight HDMI cable between my Ps3 and receiver and the receiver is a new Yamaha flagship RXA unit which is capable of 11.2 surround. I'm thinking it's something that may be forthcoming in a future update but why would they even include the option NOW only to have it "grayed out".

Thanks DJ. I'll give that a shot tonight during my "log in" and post the results.

Just did what you recommended and it worked. Thanks so much for your response DJ.

How are you liking the receiver? Right now, I'm running a 7.1 Yamaha Aventage, which I love. I had a Marantz before the Yamaha, but it was too limited as far as HDMI inputs was concerned.

I'm using a Harmon Kardon 7.1 with Cubes and absolutely love it for everything except for league nights. Wish I could find a way to have a bluetooth headset for communicating and the surround sound for racing.

Maybe I don't understand your question very well, but, how is it done right now?
Cause Im using my bluetooth headset for talking and hear all them other players, and the rest comes through boxes...

I dont have a single ear bluetooth. Also I have my video and sounds sources split up, which may be the reasoning why.

Hi, I love the receiver which is now used primarily for HT purposes as well as games of course. Although I will add that the Yamaha coupled with a Sonos system is incredible for straight music. One reason for choosing this receiver is the Ethernet capability as well as available apps (and sound of course too). Very happy with my choice. The only drawback for this new unit is that now I "need" to purchase more speakers LOL.

I can't adjust to my 5.1 receiver. I have HDMI cable out of my brand new slim PS3 into my TV, with HDMI cable out to the receiver along with an optical sound cable. The only menu sound option is "stereo" and it won't let me click on it to change it? How can I change this? Do I need the extra cable?

Most tv's don't support 5.1 sound on HDMI input or optical in, I couldn't believe it. You have to run the optical cable from your PS3 to your receiver and then change the PS3 sound settings to optical and choose 5.1 or dts. Also a good idea to disable multi output sound, so it's not sending sound through HDMI and optical but only one of them.
