Hey all. cheers for the help in advance.

Im trying to do the Cop Land mission in Vice City (on the PC) but I cant even get the first bit right. I understand you need to get a wanted level then you and Lance have to get two cops into the garage of the Vercettic Mansion to get their clothes. I have tried everything but cant get this to work!!!

I have tried driving in and and getting a cop car to follow.. Ive tried walking in with Lance and having the cops follow (they never come right in) and then Ive tried beating them up and killing them other times just waiting? What do I do? Ive tried getting them to get a car in there and then running out so the garage door closes. Im so stuck on this part im getting really pissed off with the game. I reckon Ive played that level around 70 times now trying different things.

PLEASE HELP ME.. I MAY BE A DUMB ASS FOR NOT FIGURING IT OUT BUT I DONT CARE.. AS LONG AS I CAN FINISH THIS MISSION!

Thanks.

 :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
Im going insane!!!:irked:

First off, you're not supposed to get the cops into the Vercetti Mansion garage. You're supposed to get them into a garage near the Police Station (I forgot the name but not Washing Beach police station, but the one closer to the North Point Mall.)

Yep, what he said-- its a garage pretty close to the northern police station on the first island--should be a mark on the map for it-- just kill a person and they should follow you in... If you need help with the next part of the mission just ask-- as usual Lance is worthless..

Thank you so much for your help. I would have been trying to get the cops to follow me into the Vercetti Mansion for ever.
Stupid thing is I had been to the place where you said before.. but I had only seen the cop car sitting next to the garage not the lock up itself.
Cheers a million... I did the rest of the mission just now. Only hard part was avoiding all the cop cars on the way back to the Mansion. Maybe a chopper would be the way to go there.
Anyway cheers for your help.. I dont have to get locked up in a padded cell anymore!

best way I found to finish that one is to forget about lance after you set the bomb-- clear your stars then come back and get him--

Glad to be of service. :)

Wouldn't he be dead by the time you cleared your stars and came back?

I found the easiest way to do it was to immediately get the star outside the shopping mall to get the FBI Ranchers off your back. It's not too hard then to make your way to the save point beside the Vice Point Pay'n'Spray. There's always a car parked there. Hop into it and get into the Pay'n'Spray. You've now got a clean run to Vercetti Mansion.

Either that or you can also get the star beside the Vice Point Chopper Checkpoint. You've now got only 3 stars and it's a short chopper ride back to Vercetti Mansion.

Nope-- they don't think of Lance as a threat either (since he is so damn useless)--

Now, if you have enuf of the assets completed you are only 2 missions away from GETTING to kill Lance--I envy you-- that was a sweet day-- I remember it well.

Actually I have a saved game that is right before "keep your friends close..." I get to kill Lance whenever I want--My goal is to try and do it with every weapon available--I've done it with 8 so far. I probably won't try to do the rest of them until I'm "Godfather" in my 100% game though--320,000 CR points to go.

That's similar to the Break Out mission - the con you get out of Washington Beach's copshop isn't noticed by the police/SWAT/FBI either - you just leap into your car, high-tail it to the Vice Point Pay'n'Spray and come back to pick the bugger up...

Ooohh, I never knew that. 👍

I just finished Cops Land, and there are no more missions available. I know this isn't the end, so what must I do. Someone mentioned acquiring assets, so I assume that means buying estate? I have 2000 dollars left after purchasing around 6 separate buildings and have collected the 5000 dollars generated by the Vercetti estate once. What ever should I do??????

Wow-- a nearly 2 year bump.... but I applaud you for using the search option instead of starting a redundant thread.

Have you done cone crazy yet??? If so what was your time?? and what platform are you playing on-- PS2, xbox, or PC.

If done on PC or xbox-- see note below:

this trick can be done at the start of the game before you do anything else, and it is possible to max your money on PS2, they modified it on PC and Xbox so it is much harder to max your money.

The way it works is that if you beat your record in cone crazy, the prize money doubles each time (the first time you get $200), so each time you repeat it, it doubles, beat it 23 times and you will get over $800,000,000 on the 23rd time (which will max out your money)

On PS2,
If you go and do cone crazy, the first time through, collect each checkpoint except the last one, then collect it with 1 second left on the clock. Now repeat it (park the car where you grabbed it, get out and back in to restart. Now get last checkpoint with 2 secs on clock, repeat, 3 secs, 4 secs, etc...

If you beat it by 1 second each time your 23rd time will only be a time of 24 seconds (not hard to do)

On PC/Xbox,
They "fixed" this glitch and what they did was subtract 1 second that you receive for each checkpoint for the first 6 times you do it-- so on XBOX and PC:
Leave 1 sec on your clock when you grab the last checkpoint the first 6 times you do it, now from there, you will then leave 2 secs on clock, 3 secs, 4 secs, etc...

If you do it this way, your 23rd time will be a time of 6 seconds-- this time is possible but you will have to nudge cones around before you start. I have personally done 11 seconds without moving cones (clip here) , and 8 seconds with moving them (I know of another person who got 6 seconds by moving them, so it is possible.

Anyway, even if you don't repeat it 23 times, if you can do it 15 times or so, you should have enough money to finish the game (in style).

EDIT

Just to add, I've read that you use this trick on Trial by dirt and test track and the doubling thing still occurs, but obviously it will take longer on these since they are longer events-- I have never verified these work though so if it doesn't work, don't blame me.

Also, here is the money progression:
$200
$400
$800
$1,600
$3,200
$6,400
$12,800
$25,600
$51,200
$102,400
$204,800
$409,600
$819,200
$1,638,400
$3,276,800
$6,553,600
$13,107,200
$26,214,400
$52,428,800
$104,857,600
$209,715,200
$419,430,400
$838,860,800

Another way to get alot of money is via vigilante-- if you have access to the tank (90 hidden packages) start vigilante in this and just keep crashing into the criminals cars-- you can also get the tank at the mansion--- get 6 stars while on your property-- (army will not enter)-- load up on health and armor and run out front-- near the wall is an adrenaline pill which will slow everything down.... jump the wall after grabbing the pill-- and jack a tank--- you will have to shoot the soldier that gets out (takes a few shots) then jump in the tank-- you can save it if you have purchased sunshine autos or the Hyman condo-- don't try to put it in any other garages-- it will either not fit or get wedged in the opening...

anyway the money for vigilante goes up pretty fast-- just do it till you have at least $500,000

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I have the game on PC.

Just for clarification, once I get 500K will the next mission appear somewhere on the map?

Right now, the only thing that shows up on my map are the save points, the V for Versetti estate which is simply hte icon that tells me how much money the place has generated, the gun shops, and the spray paint places.

Oh, and I haven't done crazy cone, nor do I know where to do it. Any directions for me perhaps?

I will try the vigilante mode with the tank for now. Thanks again for the reply. It is greatly appreciated :).

No but this will be enough money to buy the remaining properties-- after you finished "shakedown" (mission where you broke windows in the mall) the game told you you can buy businesses-- their are 8 total. 4 of them have you do actual missions-- when all the missions are done for the business, it will generate money like the mansion-- the other 4 have you do stuff to get them to generate money-- I'm being purposely vague so as not to spoil the game for you (I prefer not to play GTAs with guides as this is the best way to play)--I will tell you a good suggestion is to get in a vehicle near the businesses without mission markers

Oh, and I haven't done crazy cone, nor do I know where to do it. Any directions for me perhaps?

Cone crazy is located in the car parking lot in ocean beach-- its the one where you met lance in the "gaurdian angels" mission-- I believe its a block west of the ocean view hotel might be a little north or south--go up on the roof and get in the stallion parked up there-- if there is more then one, get in each one til you find the one that starts it-- to do the money trick remember on PC they changed it so... leave 1 second on the clock the first 6 times you complete it, then 2 sec, 3 sec, 4 sec. After you finish it, drive back to where it was parked... get out and back in to restart it.....if you can't remember exactly where it was park just leave and come back and a new one will spawn in the correct place.

Click on the "GTA Related video clips" link in my sig (below this post). In that thread I posted a clip of me completing cone crazy in 11 seconds (I learned that route from Jimmy or Blake--one of those downunder guys--they all look alike to me :dopey: ) ... anyway, breaking your record several times should give you plenty of money to buy the businesses (if the vigilante doesn't work out).

After enough businesses are generating money, the story will continue.

There are a bunch of side missions in the game too-- lovefist, mitch baker, Phil Cassidy, Avery Carrington, Cuban, Auntie.... that you may or may not have already done....

Phils get opened by completing the Malibu.

Cuban get opened by completing Avery.
Haitian get opened by starting Cuban.

Love Fist should be open for you now.
Mitch gets opened by Love Fist.

Thank you oh so much :) I second the "not playing with guides" part, as it takes the fun out of the game, but I was just afraid that I had done something wrong or that the game was over, and I was left to just mingle around the city. Thanks once again for all your help.

No problem on the help-- they did make a mission structure mistake in GTA3 in which its possible to lock yourself out of missions and thus make it impossible to get 100%... there is no such problem in VC or in San ANdreas-- you should be able to eventually do everything in the game that is required for 100% (although some are time consuming and others are difficult to do without a guide)-- there are a few glitches here and there though..
