It sees my network just fine - plenty of signal.

I painstakingly type in the WEP key from my router. My network is set to allow remote connections upon authentication.

It thinks for a while, then tells me "Connection failed."

Any suggestions?

What version of PSP do you have?

Eh, I forget the model revision, but I just bought it at TRU before Christmas. I successfully updated the firmware using whatever Sony had posted as current in the middle of January this year - 2.0.x something.

Have you tried removing the authentication from your router completely ?... Just to make sure that both parties are speaking the same language ?....

Well, I tried that last night, and I managed to get the PSP online. But now my network is unencrypted, so technically vulnerable. It's a closed network so it's not boradcasting it's name out for anyone to join, but I'd really be happier with it WEP encrypted.

Anybody have any suggestions? I've definitely done everything the PSP said to do to join the encrypted network, and made no typos when putting in the WEP key. It just says "unable to connect" unless I have password protection off in my network setup.

I didn't tell you to leave the encryption off

What router are you using ?...

I'm using the Apple AirPort Extreme (802.11b/g) router. The options I've got are 128-bit, 40-bit, or none. If I set it to either 40-bit or 128-bit, it won't let the PSP join, even if I enter the WEP key from the PSP.
