Can't get on GT5

I turned it on this morning. It loads and everything correctly but when I get to the "please do not switich off the system while HDD access indicator is flashing" neiher my wheel nor controller X button will get past that. If I press the PS button and come back in then it will go to the next screen where the opening video comes on. Then the X button doesnt work there so I press PS button then click on GT5 game again and it will go to the GT life screen. Byt the X button isnt working on anything on the game. Not the one on the wheel or the controller. I tried changing the controller to 1 still nothing. Turned PS3 all the way off, power button in back as well. Any idea? I was working fine when I went to bed last night.

BTW once I am to the GT Life screen I can mover the pointer around, just cant click on anything.

Well now I noticed none of the X O Square buttons work but if I put the arrow on the place I want to go and the click the PS button that takes me to the XMB screen and then click back on the game it goes to the screen I was pointing at.

I dont think so. I can move through all the screens by putting the arrow on the place I want to go, pressing the PS button and going to the PS3 main screen then clicking back on the icon for the GT5 game. So it is going to the screen it's just not by using the X button. I went and checked the mapping and nothing has changed. I wasnt even messing with any of that last night. I just played the game, went to bed and woke up to this.
 
If I reinstall GT5 will I lose my progress? I cant seem to figure out why the buttons arent working. Even when I do get to a race by clicking the PS button and going in and out that way the pedal doesnt work.
 
Ok I am an idiot. The cable that runs from the pedals to the wheel got unplugged. I didn’t even think of looking because the controller wasn’t working either. Strange. My fricken girlfriend stepped over the playseat and must have hit that. I was 2 seconds away from erasing it and re installing! Bad tech day for me. I woke up to GT5 not working and my iPad not working. Got GT going, now I have to figure out the iPad! I was starting to think there must be an alien magnetic beam aimed at my house with both things working fine last night and not this morning.
 
Thanks for posting this. I was having the exact same problem and my foot pedals were unplugged as well. Strange that it wouldn't allow for the use of the other controllers! It was the same for me.
 
I was just about to say is there a scratch on the disc as on my copy of GT5 whenever I see a Renault Sport V6 in the UCD I click on it and the game always freezes. :guilty:. I don't know why I always press it, but i'm always tempted too lol. :dopey:
