Okay, I bought GRID for my computer and I am having problems with it, so I looked on the GRID site to see what I could do and it said to install Vista Service Pack 1 (since I have Vista). Well, since Microsoft obviously just has to make everything you do on Vista difficult, SP1 won't install. I got Error 80070002, so I went to troubleshooting, found how to fix the error, followed the instructions, tried again, and still nothing. I have a very stable internet connection (I'm connected to the router via wires), and my ISP is a good one. The only problem I see here is Microsoft...

anyway, does anybody know how I can get past this?

My first attempt (on 9-11) at SP1 failed as well, but then was successful on 9-16.

Are you using Windows Update (Start --> All Programs --> Windows Update) or going through a web browser? Might not hurt to try just downloading it from the link I posted if you haven't already and install it from that.

Hope that helps.

I tried both. the web browser version just said that there was an error and didn't give me a number, the windows update one didn't work either and gave me the error number.

Have you tried downloading the SP1 installer file instead of going through Windows Update?

Its a 726MB file (contains all of the localizations) and is what I used for the update.

the installer file is what is meant by web browser.

yes. I also tried disconnecting from the internet and disabling as many protection features as I could to see if something was blocking it from changing a file, and that didn't work.
