I purchased Civilization V, as some of you know, and it was a HUGE mistake. For the past 6+ hours, I've been trying to play it. Hell, I'm just trying to move it from the disc to my HDD! It won't and here's why.
I start the disc and it downloads Steam. For some stupid reason I need to be connected to Steam to play this game though I have the disc. However, it stops at the 'update Steam' part and tells me I'm not connected to the internet (see first pic). Yet, I am connected to the internet and all is well.
There's a large list of things I can do to resolve this. I've done them all. Nothing will stop this game from posting this error message...
This message posts every single time no matter what I've done. It shows up right after this...
The update bar never moves or fills up at all. Others with the same problem had the bar fill up to a certain point, then crash. Mine doesn't fill up at all. I've read through their 'fix it' threads and their solutions never work for me.
One fix I can't complete because it tells me to log in to Steam and clear a certain file. But, I can't even log in to Steam in first place so what good does that do me?
Anybody went through this? This is just ridiculous. I turned off firewalls, shut down anti-whatever software, hell I even REMOVED software from my PC in hopes it would work like they (Steam) suggested. Nothing.
Contacting the game manufacture 2K got me nowhere. They said to 'port forward' this stuff and game me numbers. I did that and still got nowhere. Contacting them back they said 'level 2' tech will call me in two days.
This is the last time I purchase a game from them. This is the last time I deal with Steam. As some of you remember I had problems with Steam just downloading the demo for this game. Never again will and deal with these people.
If you can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you.
