Can't play online?

I can play just fine when the internet is disconnected, but the game won't load if I'm connected. Why?

I use wireless internet. The internet browser works just fine. When I try to load up the game while connected to the internet, it "loads" forever, with no sign of ending.
 
I had this same problem it was a DNS issue in the network settings. Go into the network settings and change the DNS #'s manually to a known good public server I used (8.8.8.8.) for the primary and(8.8.4.4.) for the seondary it works great too.

Edit: the servers are down right now but when your connected you may get a message that says " the servers are down for maintenance" rather than endless load screens.

Had same problem since release untill about week ago. I've manualy changed DNS and now everything works just fine.
 
Have you downloaded all the updates? Update 1.05 is required now to connect to the servers I think. I know this morning I could not connect until I quit the game and reloaded then let it download and install the update. Same with the last update. It appears that only the lastest version can connect to the GT servers.

If the internet is enabled and I start the game, it may or may not show the beginning prompt about auto-save, and then it pretty much "loads" forever.

I can't even get as far as the patch. :grumpy:

This is the only game that I play. Also, the internet browser works just fine...

Does your account have chat enabled? Are you a minor?

Edit: Your account has to have chat enabled for GT to allow itself online. If you're a minor your parents may have disabled chat when they signed up your account. The default is chat disabled when they set up the account so they'd have to change it.

I'm not a minor, but how I would I check to see if it's enabled?

I played online just fine about a week ago.
