Can't start a race...

I was going to do some grinding at Indy when I came across a few very disturbing things...

First, a ton cars from my garage were missing. No real pattern to it, just that ~30 premium and ~50 standard cars were gone.

Second, the menu system was very slow. It would often take 1-2 minutes for a menu to load.

Third (and most disturbingly), I couldn't start a race. No matter what I tried, different events, modes, cars, anything. I just couldn't start a race.

Anyone experienced anything like this? I'm playing on a three month old slim PS3.

I'm assuming you are playing online. If you are, I can help, if your not, ignore the below:
-the cars missing from your "online" garage are cars that you have not designated as favorites, as only favorites can be used in online/arcade.
-The online menus are indeed slow.
-Only the host can start a race, once you join a room, if you are the host, get on to the track, and there should be a green checkered flag in the on track menu. That starts the race.

Offline :nervous:

In the last days for me it felt like the loading times are longer... But I can still play whatever I want! Have you tried restarting you PS3? Just do a save data backup now but first save your old backup to your Computer just in case there is already something wrong with your new save file!

Even if you are playing offline, but connected to PSN (or even just have an internet on PS3), it can cause that, because for some uknown reason GT5 always checking for the server.
Try to disable internet connection on PS3 and try again.. or just unplug ethernet cable from the PS3.

If that won't help - try any other game, preferably one that are uses a good ammount of PS3's resourses, like Uncharted 2, GoW3 or something like that and check if it's still running ok.

Re-installed the game data, everything works fine now! Mods, lock this thread.
