It gets cancelled out. If I want something to be in caps lock, for emphasis, it gets instantly converted to normal text. It's like the server is thinking I accidentally left it on, for some stupid reason.

Also, to show you how stupid this built-in correction thing the server has, this entire post has been typed with caps lock on. Everything's normal text, right:grumpy:?

IT'S TO STOP PEOPLE APPEAR AS IF THEY ARE SHOUTING ALL THE TIME.

If you want emphasis why not just increase your font size?

surely thats not the best solution? I don't like people typing all in CAPS but I have to deal with it, buts having someone post just like this is as bad if not worse?

If I could type in all Caps, I would, as I like writing in capitals as well, just the neatness of it all...

WHAT IF WE WROTE IN ALL CAPS, BUT IN COURIER NEW TO DUMB DOWN THE SHOUTING PERCEPTION?
WHAT ABOUT THIS FONT, ARIAL NARROW?

WHAT IF WE WROTE IN ALL CAPS, BUT IN A SMALLER FONT TO DUMB DOWN THE SHOUTING PERCEPTION?
WHAT ABOUT A SMALLER FONT AND IN FRANKLIN GOTHIC?

Let's compare. :)

I think writing in Size 1 looks alright...

Therefore my sig is now being rewritten

There's no reason to type an entire sentence in all caps. If you want to emphasise, use the [Bold] tags. If you already use bold for everything, use italics. If you use both of them all the time, get bent.

The anti-all-caps script too valuable to disable, thank you. It saves us the trouble of correcting every fifth new member.

What if the reason was because someone likes the look of it, and that they had no intentions of emphasizing anything they said?

Having this feature helps the majority, hinders the minority. Take the other options in this thread, they are just as effective, there is a guy on another forum who speaks with every third word (or you get what I mean) capitalised, its a complete pain, and this is what it is to avoid.

Fair enough, but out of curiousity, does that ^ look annoying?

Yes. English benefits from having various ascenders in it, which actually makes it easier to read when typed out in lower case letters. Capitals, when used for whole sentences, tend to take a touch longer to read and require more thought.

^ This.

Although the odd exception (in most cases) is comic strips, but that has to do with the endless down-sizing those have to endure, as all-caps tends to suffer less from that.

Oh really? Would you say that All Caps would constitute to less confusion?

I notice that cheques are typed in capitals and when you're filling out forms they ask you to PRINT.

I see it as a way to avoid confusing certain letter and whatnot.

I FIND THIS SENTENCE MUCH HARDER TO READ THAN THE SENTENCE BELOW.

I find this sentence much easier to read than the sentence above. Typing entirely in capital letters takes away the variation of height in letters which helps the brain quickly distinguish what it's reading without consciously reading it.

I notice that cheques are typed in capitals and when you're filling out forms they ask you to PRINT.

That is because it forces people to not join letters together when they write, making for a more legible document, therefore reducing errors in communication which is important for stuff such as cheques or forms.

But there's a small debacle when voting in F1 caption game thread. 💡

When voting, people would usually write choices as capitals.

well, thing is, it doesn't let me cap-lock for even just a word. like, If I try and use a meme, I type it in, see it converted to normal, and then go back and edit it only to have it do the same thing again. :grumpy:
