Car audio help

So I've decided to buy a nice system that I can move over into my Z when I buy it. But I have a few questions for you audio gurus before I proceed.

1. I'm looking at the infinity kappa perfect 12 DVQ, (400 Watt RMS 1600 Peak) any experiences with this sub? how do the infinity perfects compare to say an alpine type R? I like to feel the bass, nice and clean, I mostly listen to rock and electronic type music.

2. The amp I'm looking at is the infinity 1600A (400 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms) anyone use this before?

3. I might get two subs, or do you think one is enough? If i get two will the amp I want be able to power two of the subs (both DVC) or will I need two amps? Also at what point do I need a capacitor? Even with my current sub I get a little flicker so I'm thinking I should get one, but if I do what capacity will I need?

4. Also I'm not sure on this but if I do need two amps do i just need a bigger cable from the battery or do I need to run two wires?

5. What type of enclosure works best for rock/techno or does it matter?

Thanks in advance =)

I don't know much, but the number of subs is dependant on how much bass you want (also depends on how powerful your amp is). Do you want to feel your music, or do you want the person 4 cars behind you to feel your music too? IMO, the more the merrier :D Also, the type of enclosre doesn't change depending on the type of music you listen to. As long as the box will fit your sub(s), you're good. Get a ported box if you can though. Don't forget to line your trunk with sound deadening material if you havn't already. It will keep the bass in the car and will keep you from having that awful rattling sound. :yuck:

I like to feel the bass but there are times I do and dont. Crusing down the highway sure crank it, but in the middle of a neighborhood I turn it down, I dont need people hating me, and i dont need to advertise "Hey come steal me" with earthquake producing bass. I do however want nice clean bass even at low levels, I dont want to have to crank it to feel it.

I think I read somewhere that a proper vented box did well for rock music.

And yes dynamat was the first thing on the list =)

I hear you. I normally like uber bass, but then theres sometimes where I just want a good clean sound. I don't think you have to worry about the "hey come steal me" scenario unless you live in a bad part of town. Just be smart about it. I know guys that have several thousand dollar stereo systems and they live in apartments. They don't turn their stereo on untill they leave the parking lot, and turn it off before they come back in.

Good to hear about the dynamat. :dopey:

I used to live in an apartment complex, thats where my first system got jacked despite the fact that I always turned it off when approaching the complex, I guess after so long I got careless and stopped removing the faceplate etc.

Now I never leave without removing my radar detector, ipod, face plate, and my trunk can no longer be opened without the key (the latch has a lock that wont allow it to pop the trunk) and the amp has been relocated from under the passenger seat to the trunk.

After that I got discouraged and bought a crap walmart deck that broke, the combination of the broken deck, and the crazy discount my friend is getting me gave me the motivation to get a new system.
